It's weird to me, because video quality is my number one concern (within reason), but there ya go. I'm not making fun of those people either, just saying they have different priorities that baffle me but work for them, and that's their choice. All my real life friends are baffled by the idea of buying movies in general, so there's that.
I agree.

My number 1 thing is also PQ/AQ. But the thing here is both the MGM and Shout do not look great, being said that the MGM has about a 5% better PQ and color. But now you have to ask yourself this question.... Is it really worth getting the MGM that only has the most bare minimal advantage at PQ? My answer is NO. I am sticking to the Shout, to me the PQ is barely noticeable unless you have them side by side and even at that it is still hard to see it. On top of it with Shout you get the Extras and the really nice looking artwork/Slip cover.

This is my opinion and i am sticking to it. Everyone has there opinion and i respect it, but you got to look past that bare minimal difference in PQ and look at it as a Whole in general.

Who knows...
By the way, we'll never get a 4k treatment of "Mad Max". That's my point. Negatives are (believed to be) lost.

Seconding for PQ/AQ is my main concern along with priority, huge extra features nutter, and also have many friends, except for a few, who don't understand why I even buy Blu-ray instead of streaming everything. I highly prefer physical releases over digital any day, still attempting to sell the Ultraviolet and Digital Copy codes, and will most assuredly buy a 4K Blu-ray or whichever name they're wanting to go with, disc burner drive for my computer. But I'd rather have a 4K IPS monitor too compared to TN, also not in 23" which my current 1080p IPS is sized at but 27".
My wishlist has far more Arrow titles compared to Scream/Shout since they're higher up on my priorities for my Upgrades. Certain titles I'm not even interested in the Scream release and others I'm just going to buy the Scream release. Already done the research for the vast majority of them, it's all about which title I'm wanting to buy more than others. Honestly I don't mind getting a few different releases of a movie and putting different discs in a case. Course I order them in release date first to last.
What irks me the most is I need a far better Blu-ray shelving unit compared to the middling one I already have.

I am passing on this release and sticking with the MGM release. The fine detail and better colors are much better.

You don't need negatives for a 4k scan but it is preferred

I have no info on this but it wouldn't surprise me as the tin would be an extra packaging cost. The tin packaging simply has a standard Blu-ray case inside.

Gives me hope that Warner will issue the Friday the 13th set in regular cases, though that could be close to the release of the new movie, whenever (or if ever) that is happening.

It's not negligible. Just take a look at the comparison caps several posts back. There's also issues with the scratch removal software removing actual parts of the picture on the Scream release. If you recall we have seen this many times with Universal's catalog titles.

Amazon also lists it as 2 discs. Perhaps WB pressed a new disc with parts 2/3 on the same disc. Whatever the case, the price is going to have to come way down.

Agree on the price.
If it's really only two discs I'll just buy the individual releases, though.

/me kicks myself for not picking up the tin last time it was $25.

I discovered after posting that I took my screencaps in the wrong program. Having reuploaded them, the differences seem more minor.

Yeah, if I didn't already have the MGM disc the Scream version would have to look pretty screwed up for me to go back and get it. I hear you. I am glad I already have the MGM disc, so I can look at both back-to-back and make my own personal decision.

With Mad Max I have nothing already, so having to pick between the two is frustrating. Looking forward to seeing more caps once the Scream website users get their copies.

I'm confused, do you or don't you own the MGM disc?

The gist is: "glad to own the MGM disc, but if I didn't, I doubt I would track it down unless the Shout! was indefensibly bad."

Whereas I went out and bought the MGM yesterday at an FYE for $5.

If you read his post, the first paragraph says he has the MGM disc, and the second says he doesn't have any version of it yet. I'm wondering if he was referring to EFNY in one of them.

Yeah, not sure how that got messed up in my head. I have the MGM disc of EFNY and will keep it. I already have a 3-disc case ready for EFNY to go in with both releases combined.

With Mad Max I am not sure which to buy and am waiting on more evidence.

Thanks for the update! Was gonna cancel my preorder and buy the MGM, but since the PQ difference is negligible and the SF has a better cover and an edge in the bonus features, I'll keep my preorder.

As I said earlier it is not negligible. Look at the hair and trees in some of those shots. The MGM disc looks noticeably better. I realize one of my eyes is 20/15, but still.
