I refuse to buy this. 20-60 minutes of the story is missing, no 3D, and NO special features. May I ask why? Oh yeah, lazy ass companies want the most of their money so stupid people can go out and buy this bare-bones edition of a great movie that deserves better. They will release the extended version for people who were PATIENT later in the year.

We got screwed on The Lord of the Rings Blu-Ray too. They are the Theatrical versions of the movies, not the extended versions. New Line Cinema knows the Theaterical Sets are inferior to the Extended Sets. But since people are so impatient nowadays. They dont look (or think) about buying something for the extras and the bonus material you get besides the movie. They just care about the film, they've already seen. I laugh at the 2.0 million people who pissed their money on a bare-bones crap release.

I was about to respond, but that's pretty much what I was going to say. Except I would have used ten more sentences, included an image file, then add another 5 paragraphs, and then I might address his post.

Personally I think your post is far to upset to think you can't enjoy it until you get what you want . Then the fact that everyone else is already enjoying it .

If someone wants to get it & then get it in 3D later its no big deal ~ I will !!

I think alot of us here that purchased the bare bones edition don't think we pissed our mony away. Everyone knew that there will be a special edition in November. I am very happy with my bare bones edition of Avatar, and my steelbook version. As far as 3D goes...house holds aren't ready for it yet. James Cameron knows this, so he's in no rush.

I think I pissed my money away. I can't believe I caved in and bought this release when I was going to hold off until November.

Who am I kidding? While I was actually going to wait and did end up caving, I don't care anymore. It's Avatar. I'll still get it in November too.

Well whatever. Sorry I commented and now look like an *******.

Still, I just dont want to piss my money away to have to do it twice. I can imagine in November, their will be a re-release, another re-release when Avatar 2, and when that wins an Oscar, another release.

^ Just don't buy the film untill you are happy with the release. No one is making you purchase any of them. So why complain?

Keep on laughing, when you grow up you will understand that people are different. Many people are very happy watching this release of Avatar, and not all have already seen it in the theater, you assume too much. To you, extras are important. To a large percentage of the home movie watchers it is the film that is the important detail, for them extras add little to nothing of value to a purchase. I accept that you may not be able to grasp this fact with your current maturity, but this will change in time as your life experiances force you to grow as a person.

There's nothing wrong with having your opinion. It's just a little late in the game, and it goes a little far. I wasn't pleased at first either, but people are right in saying that nobody is forcing you to buy the barebones release. I don't necessarily agree with their excuses for releasing the barebones release first, and it makes perfect sense to wait until November to buy Avatar, but there's no reason to laugh at people who are happy with what they bought. It wasn't your money that we spent.

There was nothing wrong with releasing the theatrical versions of The Lord of the Rings. There are people like me that are perfectly happy with the theatrical editions being released first. That is for another thread though.

I don't understand why buying Avatar now and again later on in November is turning into such a big deal with some people. When it was released on April 22nd most of us gladly went out and bought it for about $20 and change, some for way less than that.

So what if this release is "bare bones?" I wanted to experience Avatar again right now, not have to wait around another 7 months to do so. Hell, guys, I could be dead before November, and, ftm, so could any of you. I know that times are very tight for a lot of people right now, I get that. But we're talking $20 here, afterall, not $200.

I have this habit that if I like a movie a lot I sometimes will buy a back-up copy, so that if one gets damaged I always have a spare. Disc damage issues aside, movies on DVD and now Blu-ray can go on moratorium from time to time without much warning, so it never hurts to plan ahead. That was my main thinking with buying Avatar on April 22nd, and when November rolls around I will get the Collector's Edition (or whatever it's called) and gladly pay the freight again then. Provided I am still here, oc.

In the meantime, I will have had the considerable pleasure of watching and rewatching Avatar many times over (I'm up to 11 viewings of the Blu-ray, 5 more on DVD).

And for my money, that (as they say) is "priceless."

My sentiments exactly. I do think extras are nice for classic movies, like Gone with The Wind and Wizard of Oz. It's interesting for me to see how they created these effects using the clever, archaic techniques they had at the time (the tornado from WoO comes to mind). I'm also seeing firsthand an era in filmmaking that I've only read about.

Maybe in 25 years I'll buy the EE of Avatar, just for nostalgia's sake.
