As of June 12th, this past Friday, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a year old. We say "Happy birthday, Old Snake." Konami says, "We're gonna make some Metal Gear announcements!" Yes, the Metal Gear publisher is once again prefacing actual video game announcements with a warning that it plans to make said announcements, a move that has become a Konami trademark. Konami notes today that it will release "exciting" Metal Gear announcements all week long aimed at fans of the tactical espionage action franchise.
Don't expect all-new game announcements, considering that both Metal Gear Solid: Rising and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker recently had their existence confirmed. Instead, anticipate "game updates and other highly anticipated announcements" from Konami.
We doubt that Konami will embroil us in another Kojima Productions NEXT-style roller coaster ride of speculation and mental manipulation, but expect something of substance this week.

MGS 4 Trophies Incoming?

Everyone loves a good countdown, an announcement of an announcement, or some other ridiculous teaser, and Konami are no stranger to the pre-emptive “hey, we want to tell you something, in a month” way of stringing along their fans. This week appears to be no exception, they’ve promised “game updates and other highly anticipated announcements” as a special week long birthday treat. Not for us, for Metal Gear Solid 4, it’s been out a year.

The clue, then, is between the lines. There won’t be any announcements of any new games, we’ve had our spin of new Snake-based reveals at E3 in the form of Rising and Peace Walker, so this must be along the lines of the bikini costume pack for Metal Gear Online and, we’re hoping, the long awaited Trophy update patch for MGS4. We’ve been awaiting Trophies for the game since its launch, so let’s hope this week will bring some lovely silverware treats.

That would be nice. The Konami ID has been the main deterrent keeping me out of MGO. Thing is, even if trophies are added to MGS4, I fully expect for at least some of them to be MGO achievments....

And since I own MGS1 already, I suddenly got an awesome idea (which would be very unlikely) after reading all of these MGS1 PSN posts. It would be awesome if you could pop in a PS1 disc into the PS3,rip it, and be allowed to transfer that to the PSP.

Metal Gear Online Goes Icebound With Old Friend

Today, Konami is releasing a new stage and an old character for Metal Gear Online.

The third expansion for MGO's "SCENE EXPANSION" brings Metal Gear Solid 4's "Old Snake" to the fight as well as a new stage "Icebound Inferno". The stage is MGS4's windy blizzard Shadow Moses stage.
