I hope that for the 2-channel setup you'll be using the Viennas though? I think the Paradigms are stronger in the HT department, but for musicality the Viennas are the only choice....in my humble opinion.

I guess i should have said that these are not the only speakers i am considering as a whole. I was just wanting to get some opinions on these two totally different speakers.

I still have been looking at some B&W 803D's, various Salks, the Viennas, the Paradigm Signatures, Some LSA's, ATC's and other random companies that i have liked.

I know where you're coming from bigred! Choosing the right speakers is the single most difficult thing in the assembly of our setups. It took me well over a year to decide that the Totem brand was the kind of speaker that suited me. I liked their sound signature, their rather diminuative size, their excellent built quality, their aesthetic appeal, etc. It was the right choice for me.

One thing though...you have to know up front what the speakers are in duty for. In my case, music reproduction ability in a speaker was of paramount importance. Had I been looking to strengthen a HT system, the Totems would probably not be the speaker of choice. But for music...my Totems to me rock my world!

It almost seems to me that you are a little unsure of what it is you're looking for.

hehe you hit the nail on the head!

lol thats why i inquired with this thread to begin with. Just to spark conversation

See im a big HT buff and also a big music buff... makes things difficult...

I dont mind though because i dont stress myself over it as i enjoy the "search". In fact im not really searching as i said before im very happy with my mozarts, but im young and part of the fun to me is enjoying different speakers in my setup.

LOL...I thought so!

Have you looked at some JM/Focal Lab speakers? They seem to be very well-rounded for both music and HT applications?

Don't waste your money on speakers. You already have very good speakers. Instead, invest the money on a good SACD player, a turntable, and lots of Blu-ray movies, SACD music, and LPs. In the long-run, you will be happier.

This advice comes from someone who has bought and changed a hundred different types of speakers for the past 30 years. Besides what I show in my signature, I have plenty of speakers/subwoofers in my closets, garage, and my mother's storage room. God knows how many speakers, amplifiers, receivers, TV's, and DVD/VHS/LD players I have given to friends and relatives free of charge.

In the past year alone, I gave a nice top-of the-line Yamaha receiver to a former student, a Sherwood Newcastle receiver to my sister, a Pioneer Elite receiver, a Pioneer Elite DVD/SACD/DVD-A player, and a subwoofer to my daughter, a Sony receiver and Yamaha speakers to my son, a TV and DVD player to another duaghter, a 46" Pioneer TV to the gardner, a couple of old TV/VCR to Salvation Army, and I still have enough junk in my house to compete with the local Best Buy.

I seriously took them into consideration as well. So well balanced and sexy to boot! Small platform, which I love!

Hey there RED.......awesome gear my friend!! Here's my advice-

I just demo'd a pair of S8's v.2 as well as a pair of Focal BE1037's. All I can say is WOOOOWWW!!!

I was shocked at the huge improvement I heard, compared to my studio 100's. So much more transparency....faster, tighter bass....the list goes on...

The focals and the signatures are both amazing....perhaps the focals are a tad more detailed.....but they are double the price. Certainly not double in performance...

My advice is to save up for a pair of S8's (v2) and then if you really wanna go crazy.....move the XPA-3 to handle the rears and center and add the emotiva signature monoblocks for the S8's.

Isn't this S*&T AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the compliments on my setup! and thanks for adding your impressions!

Here is the thing about the S8's, they would just be to big for my space. I would also have to get the C5 as the center and this would almost double my costs lol. I would love to do this but i dont know if its feasable with my finances... , but i will see what i can do

P.S.- i would LOVE some XPA-1's

Well, res ipsa loquitur-" the thing speaks for itself" which goes to show how popular the digms are in this forum. How big is your listening area anyways? Because as you pointed above, integrating a speaker into a room is key; otherwise it'll choke the life out of the acoustics.

its about the perfect size for either speaker. Its about 15x20 with 9ft ceilings. It would work out nicely. But this place is only temporary for a year.
