Doubt it. But I would surely love to be wrong.

I think one problem is they waited way too long to release SP3 considering piracy is quite rampant.

Spiderman 3 was huge disappointment. Don't count on it beating Transformers in is first week. Its possible that it could outsell it in the long run, but I'm not even sure of that. I'm more interested in how Harry Potter does.

I know, unbelievable isn't it!

300 was a blip on the horizon compared to Spiderman 3, I even saw bus billboards with 'Spiderman 3 on Blu-ray' today (UK), I don't think I've even seen a Blu-ray/HD-DVD ad in a newspaper, nevermind billboards!

It will do 200k with ease.

On DVD Spiderman may sell more due to the "normal sales" from parents and kids. For High definition geeks, like us, I think transformers will get a better result because of the classic nature for us grown-ups. SpiderMan 3 has poor reviews for adults too.

300 was not a blip - everyone I knew with an HD-DVD or BD player was anticipating this release, which is why it sold so many copies the first week. I have not seen that same excitment about Spiderman 3 - and I know I won't buy it because it was terrible (first two were very good).

I think SM3 will sell well, but not nearly as well as some people think.

I think it will. A lot of people thought Transformers was awful. Honestly, if I never watched TFs in the 80s when I was a wee lad, I'd think it's the biggest piece of GCI crap ever assembled. Well, I heard Dragon Wars was really horrible... LOL.

I don't see why we wouldn't.

If they can sell that many on a dying format of a movie that is good, but not GREAT.. then i see no reason why the prominent format should not sell better with a GREAT movie, especially to all those PS3 owners.

So I say YES. We will make a new record with Spidey 3.

It will outsell Transformers but it will be hard to tell without further inspection.

The fact that it is coming out single _and_ in a trilogy will split the sales figures so calculating it out won't be a side-by-side comparison in the end. Will need some math and most people can't do that.

Will be interesting to watch the spin on it.
