Exactly. Even on amazon, the Blu Spidey box set has always remained above S3 on their best seller list.

Of course it is. If you count Spider-man blu-ray trilogies plus Spider-Man 3 blu-ray sales that easily outsold Transformers on HD-DVD. I dont think SOny will pull a Paramount and lie and make their sales numbers look better

Again, I will state that I am glad that Sony has not posted their numbers as of yet--Warner was upset that PM decided to overstate their results.

The numbers will be out this week in the Nielsen numbers and by other stat companies. However, there will have to be some different formulas to figure out the CLOSEST totals here as we have a single disc, a trilogy, and copies boxed in with PS3s (which I'm not sure if they count on last week's numbers). So, it may be a while before we ACTUALLY know what the total is on anything dealing with SM3.

I think to get a good idea of how many sold is to add the box set and single movie numbers to get an idea of if it outsold Transformers or not. I know I'm guilty of buying the box set so I couldn't help the S3 numbers.

DVDTown.com isn't exactly a reliable source these days. They are very pro-HD DVD.

I could be wrong but that article seems like it was talking about the dvd version not the high def counterparts. Also, I totally agree with bullseye about the actual #'s for blu being split due to the box set.

I see little value in comparing sales of two different movies.

Blu Ray has outsold HD DUD for 45 weeks in a row,... that's the significant thing.

Blu Ray even outsold HD DUD during Transformers release week crushing the hopes of just about every HD DUD fanboy.

Fall short of the REAL numbers? or the made up spiked cool-aid numbers?
No matter it will have some serious staying power with many new BR adopters.

what matters is that we beat TF on their only week of survival. and we beat them again on the 2nd week. we got our chance to stick it to HD-DVD and Paramount. this war is over.

From looking at that, they're talking DVD, not HD discs. The blu-ray numbers are not out yet, but they're talking about the SD Transformers that sold around 8+ million on the first day.

Personally, I think ALL SM3s should be counted. Just because it's in a box set doesn't mean it shouldn't be counted. I bought the box set because I wanted all of the Spiderman movies (including SM3). I don't see why it shouldn't be counted as a SM3 sale, right?

BTW, I'm not counting Transformers first day or first week sales as being accurate until proven. As far as I'm concerned, Transformers on HD DVD sold 115,000 the first week. Chances are they didn't sell 100,000 of that 115,000 in the first day.

I too bought the box set, as most of us did. Of course single disc sales will be lower!

Yeah, a ton more people, after seeing various polls on many websites, were planning to get the boxset more than the single. I didnt expect single alone to beat TF's number.

This link is discussed elsewhere in the forum. They are talking about the SD DVD version. BTW... There is no way that SP3 Blu-ray by itself outsells Transformers. The Blu-ray Trilogy was selling almost as well. If you include SP3 individual Blu-ray + The copies of SP3 in the Blu-ray Trilogy set, then we are talking

So is this referring to the Standard version or the Blu ray version?

All in all if it is referring to Blu ray (Spiderman) vs. HD DVD (Transformers), this may come down to how many single copies were sold and how many Trilogy copies were sold. In my mind, both should be totaled together because they include the single (or 2 disc version). Someone mentioned it in a post early last month that the Spiderman 3 Blu ray (2 disc) numbers may be skewed because of the two different versions.

Yea it appears they are talking about the DVD version. They way they were talking about blu-ray in the first paragraph gave the impression they were talking about blu-ray sales not DVD sales.

I've seen some prelims, but obviously Sony is not going to publish the numbers unless they're sure they're accurate, cause the HDers are going to be out for blood after they got caught TransFUDing

Suffice to say, the combined box set and Spidey 3 have well surpassed TF's numbers, and I expect this to be a happy happy Friday (and a horribly annoying one when the trolls come knocking)
