Default Will Spider-man sell more than Transformers?

Do you guys think the SPIDER-MAN 3 or the SPIDER-MAN trilogy will sell more units that the HD-DVD for tranformers which sold 190,000 in 1 week? I think it has a heck of a good chance! Blu-ray fans unite so SONY can brag with their own press release.

I wonder if you purchase the Spider-Man trilogy if those sales will count towards the total Spider-Man 3 Blu-rays sold?

If you believe the number floated by paramount, no I do not think it will. I don't think S3 had the buzz that Transformers did.

Never undestimate the power of SONY and Spidey. I mean 300 sold 100,000 copies and it was not as big of a movie as Spider-Man and Transformers

it doesn't it, remember the BD populous out numbers the HD-DVD guys, plus it'll have to releases 1 as a single and 1 as a trilogy, and with christmas, coming I expect spiderman will easily beat Transformers

You do not count your average american familly that has no interest in a "loud japanese robots movie" but do love spidey.

I think Spidey 3 will outperform TF, PoTC:AWE even more so possibly.
HD-DVD then has Bourne (I think Shrek 3 will underperform, was a huge disapointment), but Blu will have Superbad, Cars, Ratatouille etc.

Many people who grew up in the 80's and 90'2 loved Transformers so that helped this movie sell, however Spider-Man is the biggest comic book movie ever which has broke many box office records in itself. I think Spider-Man 3 has a heck of a chance to break Transformers record.

Worldwide, Spider-Man 3 did better than Transformers. So it's likely they will sell more. Plus there's more Blu-ray owners.

In the long run, Yes I believe the SM movies will sell more than Transformers, however not in the first week of sales. I would estimate in the first few months that it will do better but not in the first week. Transformers had a TON of hype but SM has a larger fan base. In time, I can see the sales dominating transformers but not until early '08. JMO anyway

I would expect Spiderman 3 to blitz Transformers, but I'm seeing it from a UK perspective, and I can believe the two movies are perceived very differently in the US. Over here, not one single person has ever mentioned Transformers to me, I wouldn't have known the movie existed if it weren't for this forum. On the other hand nearly everyone I know has seen all the Spiderman movies at the cinema.

At least that is a good sign for global BLU dominance

Yes, and the other thing, Woolworths here is a fairly major high street retailer, but the stores I've looked in have never sold any high def titles up till now, only DVD. BUT, they had Blu-ray Spiderman 3 and the Trilogy Box Set on the shelves on release day. I think that says something about how massive Woolworths sees the Spiderman franchise as, they're the only high def titles they carry.

lets just wait a week and see. I bet spider-man sales come close if not surpass transformers. Why is everyone freaking out about the sales of transformers when blu-ray has dominated every single week of sales since the ps3 made its debut

Looking back, Casino Royale sold 100,000 on day one all the way back in March, just 4 months after PS3 launch.

Now 7 months later with big PS3 and stand alone price cuts I don't think it's out of the realms of possibility why Sony can't push 500,000 box sets onto retailers for the US alone.

In fact if Paramount issues the 190,000 Transformer sales as world wide sales, could Sony pull 1,000,000 world wide Spiderman sales out of the bag?

Casino Royale did not sell 100,000 in a single day. What happened was that Sony shipped 100,000 to the retailers. Then took advantage of that number. They did sell a lot though, I don't know how many were sold.

I would say "yes", but we'll not see a 2:1 moral victory in sales.

I think 'The Simpsons' will be the biggest seller this year, followed by a close POC3 & Spider-man, then Cars.

I believe it will because it was the biggest box office champ worldwide this year grossing more than 900 million, while Transformers only grossed 600+ million worldwide.
