Yes, Spiderman has a much broader appeal. I know of adults who loved the Spidey's. I don't know of any adults age 30 and above who saw Turdformers. I'm sure there were some, but none of my friends did.

Spiderman will blow the transformers numbers BY SOOOOO MUCH its not even gonna be funny. Dont forget that in 3 weeks we have the Die Hard series coming out ...thatll be another big week. Oh and lets not forget that Oceans trilogy and Harry Potter series is coming out as well, and even though its on both, we all know which will sell thousands more Im smelling BLU victory for all box sets coming out this year! call me crazy i dare you!!! Even if it doesn't, does it really change anything?

Just IMHO, but Spidey 3 disappointed allot of fans. I speculate that may have cost a few sales. Though probably not enough to worry about. I know Ill skip it till hopefully they are available separately and Transformers is on Blu. Guess Ill be waiting awhile. Good thing I got plenty of Blu to keep me busy...

We are huge blu supporters in this house in fact we own 2 blu-ray players but I have to strongly disagree that spiderman 3 is better than transformers.

I know it's a personal opinion but I wouldn't waste my money on any of the 3 spiderman movies. But in all fairness as much as we loved transformers we refuse to buy it until it comes out in blu.

it doesnt matter if hdud wins a battle cause they are losing the war and one title wont wins this war for them cause big blu has the better titles just remember whats coming up for the rest of the year.

I donot think it will but even if it does this is not the important title being done right now. It is a Sony title, they will not be going anywhere. And the PS3 bundle will actually hurt the sales of the movie. Since most freebe things donot have a sku and will be counted as PS3's sold.

The more important movie comes one week later. That is Ratatouille. Disney will not go any place but if it can sell alot of movies then it looks better for Blu. And it might just get them to open up the vault earlier, that is if they can get movies ready. If familys need to buy Blu to watch Disney that is when the tide will really turn. Not to mention the impact on kids. Why do you think McDonalds is still around? Very easy it is called Happy Meals. Get a child started at a young age and you have them for life.

I dont think the dvd sales will come close to TF, but with the base of blu-ray owners Spider-man should do 200k easy. The only setback might be the sales number confusion of the 2 versions of Spider-man 3 (single and part of trilogy) along with those coming with 40gb PS3's.

Me, too! I think the Spiderman trilogy can beat Transformers the first week, but only if the retailers ordered enough copies in the first place. If they don't order but 150,000 units (for their warehouse) and they sell out in the first 3 days, their next shipment might not make it there in time to sell an additional 40 or 50,000 copies.

Looking at that Spiderman thread with the voting pole, the vast majority of people are buying the trilogy (like 87%). I think this will translate to the vast majority buying the trilogy the week of Oct. 30. Plus, this is a prime PS3 demographic Spiderman is aimed at.

In the end, only 10% of the PS3 owners need to pick up the trilogy in the first week to hand Transformers it's @ss. I think it's definitely possible.

Spiderman all the way. Spiderman 3 was alot better than Transformers imo and has a broader appeal. Transformers lacked in many ways but it was dumb fun (well at least some parts of it) and was a big letdown from the cartoon film. Spidey3 was also a big letdown since part 2 was really great, but was still alot better than Transformers which was decent. It will outsell Transformers for sure. Of course I'll end up picking Transformers when it comes on BLU just because it was decent enough to get.

Just i will elaborate it in this way:

Spiderman Movies, Cars, Ratatouille , and Pirates of the Carribean at world's end , Die HARD Trilogy will end Transformers and HD-DVD definetely and forever.

THIS WHAT WILL PS3 Owners new and OLD will get sooner or later during this 4th quarter and will be a massively massacre for HD-DVD owners.

i almost bought a HD DVD player yesterday just for transformers.. like for $200 i could have picked one up second hand.. and if i only buy the movies that arent on blue.. well if HD DVD dies i wont be left with a huge investment.. still pisses me off that i would have to have another box under the telly

Anyway this is your decision and not mine.

HD-DVD will loose at the end and i will not buy another loosing format and i already know who is stronger than the another one.

Toshiba did this because they know ,they are loosing at the end,but the real question is how thay can still survive what will happened after transformers go to an end.To whom now they are going to pay.

If i where you and really you believe in Blu-ray and really you are enjoying your unbeatable format ,at least you will buy the dvd version and upconverted it through your PS3.

This is your decision i respect it but i'm totally against it.

well if its any consolation i wont be buying it.. and i'm going to stick to my guns and hope blue ray gets all these titles sooner rather than later.. i dont think buying the sd dvd is a great plan.. its just telling paramount there is a huge market for dvd so they wont be that bothered about the hd market...
