So it's entirely up to you.

The same goes for the upcoming The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Miss Osbourne: do you want Patrick Magee in his native English or Howard Vernon in his native French?
If the majority of the cast aren't even speaking Italian anyway I might see just how bad the English dubbing is and perhaps go with that if it's bearable. If not, Italian it is.

Gemma's dub has an absurd erstaz-Southern twang that makes him sound like an even dimmer-witted Ken Curtis.

I don't mind subtitles at all and usually go for the foreign language version by default just because I'm not familiar with the language and therefore its harder for me to pick up bad dubbing. I'm always open to both though as some films I have watched in the past have two completely different translations depending on whether you're reading subs or listening to the dub and while i've yet to discover it dramatic enough to change the context of an entire scene I'm still cautious for the day.

I usually prefer the Italian tracks as you don't seem to notice poor lip-sync or dodgy accents as much, but I liked the English here - Van Cleef's voice is excellent and much more suited to him than the Italian dubber.

Not seen one that completely changes the storyline, but have found several films where lines of off-screen dialogue are completely missing in some language tracks and of course a number of Spaghetti Westerns have difference character names - the German dub tracks often changed the lead character to be called Django, something they actually did earlier with Pepla as well - the German track for 'Man, Pride & Vengeance' that changed the setting to the USA from Spain was certainly quite a radical change.

Argh i shouldn't have compared both english tracks between the two cuts.

Maybe it is me or my ps3 but i think the sync in the shorter version is much better than in the italian cut.

I just tested the disc and noticed it at the shootout at Minute 44. (international version)

Anyway, i haven't seen this movie in years and only once so maybe i go with the shorter version.....
Or should i avoid the international version at any cost?

Regarding the "Big Gundown" i prefer the shorter version there....sue me

Besides that, picture and audioquality seems very very nice and i'm very excited to watch this movie in the next days.

So, Van Cleef fans: How would you rank Day of Anger, Sabata, and The Big Gundown?

DAY OF ANGER.....BIG GUNDOWN.....GRAND DUEL....DEATH RIDES A HORSE......SABATA.

Since we're on the topic I figure I'd include HORSE and DUEL.

This is the first bluray from Arrow I have purchased, and I was blown away! Great film and the packaging and extras were incredible as well.

Hopefully they can release some of their Pam Grier movies (Coffy, Foxy Brown) in North America some day.

My first Arrow titles were the region free Brian De Palma titles Sisters and Obsession. I was so impressed with them I finally broke down and bought a region free player just so I could get The Burbs. They are a fantastic company.

Just got this today, really nice set! Can't decide what front artwork to go with, but I think I might go with the Arrow artwork simply because the disc has the other artwork on it, so it's a nice balance.

Did anyone else just remove the two DVDs and the middle platter? Might as well, makes the case less cumbersome.

Not a popular film I guess. I watched this tonight and really enjoyed it. Some of the gunfight shots were super impressive, up there with Leone. The transfer looked really great, better than a lot of classic American Westerns have received by far. Watched the journalist interview and it was very long and informative, lots of political commentary I missed my first time through the film.

If you don't need Clint to enjoy a Western I recommend this disc strongly.

A great film. If you're interested, I would recommend a couple of other great titles with similar themes, both starring Lee Van Cleef: The Big Gundown which is available in a fantastic package from Grindhouse, and Death Rides A Horse which is available as a region free import from Explosive in Germany.

Thanks, I'll check them out at some point. I always thought the Man With No Name trilogy was enough Spaghetti Western for my collection but I thoroughly enjoyed this one, so will definitely be looking for more.

I second the recommendation of The Big Gundown. It's hard to believe it never got any home video release over here ever.

Day of Anger has been on my list to buy ever since it was announced. I just have so many unwatched Blu-rays right now that I'm in no hurry to get it given that and the price. I'm not saying it's not worth it, because I'm sure it is, but I'm sure you get the point.

I think I need this in my life. I've loved all the spaghetti westerns I've seen so far (I love Once Upon A Time In The West and the Dollars trilogy, and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is one of my all-time favorite films), and I'll happily watch anything with Lee Van Cleef.
