I honestly think audiences are just looking for an entertaining popcorn movie these days, and JW certainly delivered. I don't think a sequel could ever come close to matching JP's more emotional moments, regardless of time spent on the script. Plus as you noted, it really wouldn't matter in terms of box office numbers as this formula proved a success for them. It might even hurt sales if they tinkered too much. When all is said and done, the sequels just make me appreciate the original even more.

I'm hoping Brad Bird would come and direct this one. He's pretty much perfect for directing a Jurassic Park/World movie.

Let's hope the title is Jurassic World: Gigantosaurus Protocol if that ever happens

Well, think of it this way; if it took them nearly 14 years to come up with what became Jurassic World and that didn't satisfy you, what difference does it make if the next one is out within three years from now? A couple years or a couple decades, JP5 probably won't blow anyone away regardless, so whatever. At worst it'll probably be more of the same and you can safely avoid it, at best the general consensus will be that it's an improvement and you can maybe be pleasantly surprised.

StingingVelvet, I just remembered that I came up with an idea for a sequel last month that was less popcorn, and more emotional. I kind of made it up as I typed it, so the ideas aren't fully fleshed out of course..

With that in mind, I want a story where the new heads of InGen decide that they are done with Isla Nublar, and plan to exterminate all living creatures on the island. I want to see it from the perspective of these innocent dinosaurs as the humans that created them come in and take them down.

In such a movie, there will be a human fight with some people for this idea, and many others against it. There will be protests, and huge news coverage, as questions are raised of whether these genetically created animals have rights, and should be allowed to live out their lives in isolation of human control, etc..

I think it would be great to see a grown-up Tim and Lex Murphy come back as the rightful heirs to the Hammond foundation, and they be the leaders of the movement to preserve the island vs Ingen.

Isla Nublar will look like a war torn country, with some victories for the dinosaurs, but more for the humans. In the end, we do see Isla Nublar essentially burn to the ground, but we also see signs that "life finds a way" . We see the Mosasaurus. swim away into the Atlantic. There will also be a scene (perhaps post-credit) where they show Site B, and how Henry Wu has had a facility deep underground. The movie cuts to a close-up of him where he says "Phase Two is Now Ready". and then the film ends

I have no idea what I'd call it, but perhaps Jurassic Park: Extinction Level Event

I wonder if that is an audience change or just a simplifying change by the studios. It does seem like (most) blockbuster films have slowly killed the slower paced emotional or social commentary scenes. I know smarter films exist with lower budgets, but I remember when a lot of blockbusters were smart.

Anyway, I sound like an old grump, so I'll back off. I enjoyed Jurassic World on many levels, it just wasn't great for me.

I understand where you're going with that, but at the same time it's basically been done in The Lost World already, and if they truly decided they wanted to destroy the island bombing it (like in the novel) would be more logical than sending people in on the ground just so we can get some human vs. dino conflict.

With the amount of money JW made. I'm sure it will be more "popcorn" than anything. They know that's what the people want and like.

That could probably be explained away by saying destroying the entire island would waste resources that are still all over the island, or perhaps the Costa Rican government wouldn't allow it, etc.. Like I said though, I was just trying to think of a way to give it more emotion, and it occurred to me that we mainly see it from the human side, and as the sequels progress the dinos are just looked at as lab creations rather than the animals they are. Like, I got less and less empathy for them with each movie, because of this association of them as just being cold hearted killing machines.

I think the best (and perhaps only) way to go is to expand from the island. I remember hearing a rumor a few years ago that they were considering having some sort of disease cause by the dinosaurs that was killing the human population. If done with finesse and artistry, I can see them taking it in that direction. Since this will obviously be a trilogy, I think the 2nd film would depict the spread of the virus and dinosaurs spreading out to various areas of the world, while the 3rd would end with the end of the human race and dinosaurs becoming the dominant species, embracing the Jurassic World title.

Why would you want another Blu-ray you can't buy due to a lack of shifting AR?

So in other words make it just like the new Planet of the Apes series, but with dinosaurs penciled in.

I'm a huge fan of his, but...

After the disastrous box office for Tomorrowland, he won't be getting many calls for Big Blockbuster movies anytime soon...

Quote:
Production Budget: $190 million

Total Lifetime Grosses

Domestic: $91,755,697 45.1%
+ Foreign: $111,900,000 54.9%

= Worldwide: $203,655,697
not factoring in Promotion/Marketing costs, this movie lost a Lot of $$$$$$$$$$$$

I loved Jurassic World just as much as I loved Jurassic Park. I'm really excited to see what they do with it this time. It doesn't have to be perfect, but as long as it has good characters, a solid script, and delivers on being fun, I'll be happy. All things that the first and fourth movies did for me.

Fine with me. He's too good for this project. It would be a waste of his talents. Besides, we don't need anything more to slow down the process of Incredibles 2.

You mean portraying people as beyond stupid in a movie is unrealistic? Could've sworn most people have average or below average intelligence.
