Bit late to this thread.
At $499.99 I guarantee this will be a better video player than the Samsung BD-P1000 at $250 or more extra. I'd put money on it. If you can find one, grab it. Just don't pay $1000 for one off ebay. |

I tried a USB pen-drive and it detected it just fine. I'll put on some video files and see what it can play. According to the manual any 'USB Mass Storage' class device can be used. This system has system software version 1.00 which is what the first shipment will probably have. There is an online page (http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/ps3/current/) that already talks about 1.10 so I'm sure pretty soon after launch we'll see an update. |

Do you know if the PS3 upscales or upconverts PS2 games?

![]() Also, I did a quick timing on the blu-ray loading times, it took about 5 seconds for the disk icon to show up on the screen after I inserted it, then another 10 seconds until the first movie images appeared after I clicked on it. Not sure how this compares to other players. |

WMA is a no-go. So those with a Zune would be tuned out. Another reason MS doesn't like the PS3 Quote:

Oh, and any rumors about the unit being noisy or hot are totally untrue. It's extremely quiet and doesn't generate excessive heat at all after playing for an hour straight (for example my SA 8300HD cable box generates way more heat).

Have you been able to make any kind of comparision on load times for PS2 games on a PS2 vs. a PS3? I'm just kind of curious to see if you get a little boost there or not. ![]() Thanks! ![]() |

OK Guys, here's what's inside of a PS3 (you might have to copy and paste the URLs because for some reason they don't work when clicked on)

Yo K! The link now says "You don't have permission to access ... on this server." Put it back together and upgrade the firmware. We wanna hear how it plays BD movies.

I already upgraded the firmware though...unfortunately I don't have a good enough TV set to do a real BD movie test/comparison... |
