The majority of what remains of the Madden nation, hates QB vision and the newest Weapons feature, both of which are complete garbage and have no place in the game.

on QB vision:
Why should my opponent know where I'm looking? If I look him off once or twice, it doesn't work anymore. It makes no sense to have that feature in the game, especially when my eyes are the quarterback. I already know where I am looking.

on Weapons feature:
This addition is laughable at best. So now you don't actually have to know what teams are good and what teams have weaknesses. Now all you have to do is pick the team with the most weapons. This is no fun at all. How anyone came up with this is beyond me. Whom ever it was, should be fired.

Now please...

PUT MADDEN BACK ON THE MAP!!!!

PS. Madden08 was the most returned game because it sucks!

wait! you forgot about one more thing that makes madden 08 suck -

how about when you jump your Receiver 15 feet into the air on every single play. I should know because I'm one of the players that do it against my opponents. It works every time. It works so much that it's not even fun anymore.

I also agree with everyone, QB vision and weapons are what makes madden 08 the most traded-in game in eb & game stop history.

I'm the biggest madden fan alive and I hate madden 08. I'll give madden one last chance. If I read the features of 09 and see QB vision or weapons, I won't even buy it.

I could care less about features like the price of hot dogs but QB vision is great and adds to the realism of the game.
Oh for cry'in out loud.

Liking or disliking the cone has zero to do with your skill level or understanding of football. Very few people are unaware of what the cone is supposed to represent. The problem is that it LOOKS ridiculous and takes away from the realism we want. If they just had to add it, they could've come up with a more creative way. The bottom line is that the implementation of it blows.

But I'd rather EA stopped getting rid of features/things every year, and actually dig in and make them better. Take the graphics: '06 and '07 on next gen looked incredible from a detail standpoint, but the proportions needed work. But rather than just working on the proportions, what did EA do? They got rid of the whole graphics engine, made the proportions better, but 86'ed all of the great detail! Now the graphics look pathetic because the detail is so freaking low.

To say Madden '08 is the best/most realistic ever is utter nonsense. Being able to--every single game--flip guys through the air double-digit times, cause double-digit INT's, and double-digit fumbles, and having 99% of all kickoffs go through the endzone... that's not realistic. Not even close. And that's just a small sampling of all of Madden '08's problems.

NFL 2K5 was the best football game ever. Madden hasn't caught up yet. They're still many miles behind in fact. The Madden team has weak talent, and their headed up by morons who don't know squat about simulation, realism, or delivering an exceptionally programmed product. Get ready, because Madden '09 will almost certainly be worse with the NFL Tour guy now heading the project, and Peter Moore at the top spewing nonsense about casual gamers not being to get into Madden even though almost all of Madden's entire market is made up of casual gamers.

Perfect post. the QB vision cone is crap. Weapons, another crappola addition.

Who ever had input on Madden 08 should be fired. Maybe whipped, then fired.

Also, take out the wide receiver that jumps 20 feet in the air on every single play to catch the ball. It's a joke. I do it all day long. I win with it and even I think it's ridiculous.

I have a great Idea!

EA should put the guy who created Madden08 on the cover of Madden09. Maybe it will end his career.

LOL

It's all the bells and whistles crap that kept me from buying Madden's year after year. I used to be all about it...

Yeah, because the stuff they added was good up until about 2001. Then they decided that they needed to add something every year. It got outta hand. They ruined Madden in the process.

To the guy that said that QB vision adds realism to the game, I say, yes and no. In theory, it was a good idea, but it didn't translate well in the video game. Besides, if you played Madden for a long time, hell if you're a football fan or if you played organized ball before, you know the difference between man and zone coverage and which receiver is open and which one isn't. I agree that you shouldn't be able to flip the receiver more than 80% of the time and that your receiver shouldn't be able to outleap the corner all the time (unless it's Randy Moss, Plaxico Burress or maybe even T.O.) because that's not real. Another thing I forgot to add in my last point for some ideas is weather effects on the game. Meaning if it's windy, the ball could sail on you or like in the Chicago/GB game, it could make a simple punt an adventure. Or if it's raining or snowing, the field should deteriorate as the game goes along and the player's footing and grip on the ball shouldn't be stable. They should have team specific fight songs/cheers/celebrations in there. Good thing I got a 60 GB PS3. I found a copy of NFL 2K5 for $3 and am about to get my football fix.

Good post SJohn. Looks like everyone has the same complaints. The question is, "Will EA & The Madden development team listen?".

or, "are they smart enough to listen" is really the question.

How much easier can their fans make it for them.

TAKE THE CRAP OUT OF THE GAME!!!! Put all that garbage into NFL Street, No one buys it anyway.

I don't care if it is Randy Moss and Plaxico, you still shouldn't be able to jump your receiver 17 feet into the air on every single play. That is not football.

I agree with this. I should have clarified myself. I should have said that no receiver should be able to get their Superman on and be able to leap 18 feet in the air. But at the same time, the receivers I mentioned should be able to beat the corner in most jumpball situations.

You are totally correct. But I'll tell you one thing, If Randy, Plax, T.O, Chad, Housh or any Wide Receiver did that jump play more that 3 times in one game, a safety or LB would take his head off. The Receiver would have 10 concussions a game.

EA should change their slogan to:

If it's in the Game, It's Not in the Game!

I think EA needs to build a much more solid foundation for their Madden. It need a major overhaul. I'm sure they've heard an ear full from EB & GameStop contacts.

If the guys at EA don't know what's going on with Madden then they have their heads in a cloud.

They only true way to bring life back to is to give the audience weapons that they use to blow up the football players, or allow the player to be a audience member and give them a large amount of weapons.

Dodge this quarterback... fires rocket.

Wow your terrible . Oh I thought you were talking about actually weapons in game like machine guns .. for the audience members.

"You suck "enter random football player name here" try missing these balls fires m16 at the running back.."

But no if they did that they would give the players weapons kinda like
super mario cart, fire the turtle shells to cause the runner to stop, or to
blow away the blockers.
