While all my Blu-Ray movies are movies I've at least seen before, if not in my collection already, I guess GOODFELLAS is the only one that could be considered a blind buy. I saw it in a store, and since I'm a big Scorsese fan, I immediately picked it up. Still haven't looked at it yet (which I could say about half the Blu's I own), but I guess that's the closest I've gotten to a blind buy. I'm very picky when it comes to getting DVD's. Very rarely do I but something I've never seen before. If I can rent it, then I'd rent it first.

I have too many to go through and list but in general, a lot of mine are blind-buys. I don't think I've been to the theater in a year (maybe more) so anything that was released on blu-ray that is fairly recent, was a blind-buy for me.

I blind buy on blu far more than I ever did on DVD. I guess its because of the higher picture and sound quality and rising theater ticket costs. Tickets for my wife and I $18. I Am Legend from Amazon $18.99. If it sucks in the theater or at home I am out the same money for the most part. Lately I have been using Redbox as a screener. $1 a movie if I like it I buy the blu if not oh well just out a buck. Saved quite a bit by doing that. I was going to blind buy Hitman, No Country for Old Men, and The Assasination of Jesse James. I promptly removed those titles from my Amazon wishlist after seeing my Redbox "screener" for a $1. Saved nearly $100. That's what I have been doing.

I don't go to the theaters much and I don't really like renting. So most new movies for me are blind buys.

Only one. Assasination of Jesse James....but only after reading reviews that indicated it was my kind of movie.

8 of 47 titles were blind.

Of the remaining titles 8 were "new" to my collection and the remaining 31 titles were replacements of DVDs I already owned (or had seen in theaters and bought for the first time).

6 of my 13 wish list movies are blind, and am waiting for an acceptable price to pick them up.

that statement is kind of ignorant. anything you watch for the first time is essentially a blind buy.
you can go to the theatres (a blind buy), gamble your money on something that might suck, and watch it only once in a room full of annoying people on a screen that isn't as clear as your 1080p at home. no refund. 2 tickets and snacks: $30+.
you can rent (a blind buy), gamble your money on something that might suck, and watch it once or twice. no refund. new release: $9.
or you can blind buy a disc, gamble your money on something that might suck (of course by the time it's on shelves for purchase helpful reviews are plentiful), watch is as much as you want for years and years to come. if it turns out you don't like it then sell it and recoup some of the cost. 1 blu-ray you like: $25. 1 blu-ray that sucks: $5-10 net (cheaper or on par with renting).
I'm glad ther are others out there that truly understand "Blind Buy", they are all blind buys in one way or another.

Only 1 out of 60. Most of my purchases have either replaced DVDs or ones I saw in the theater. Enchanted was the only one since the whole family wanted to see it but missed it in the theater.

I have over 500 dvds and more than half were blind buys I was "that guy" at best buy buying all the new movies. I had a wall full of shitty movies I would look at the titles and wonder what the hell is this doing in my house? with bluray I decided not to be "that guy" and just buy movies I like.

for the people talking about going to the movies is worse it really sounds like u need to get out of the basement. instead of blind buying a couple of movies go watch a new movie at the theater have dinner go to the bar make a night out of it. maybe that's not for everbody but that's something I like to do.

nothing wrong with blind buys....you can gauge blu's by a decent movie, and whats crap...blind buys can only suck if u got a movie u couldnt get into...and u paid 29.95 for it

30 days of Night-definite blind buy as I had no idea what this was about other than a zombie movie

Ratatouille-saw previews, wasnt as much as a blind buy as I knew it was about a rat who wanted to be a chef

August Rush-No previews, no nothing...I like Robin Williams as an actor, have for years so I figured I would give it a swing. Man you cannot go wrong there, a definite a chick oriented movie but as a guy I really liked it. I have seen it a couple more times with the wife and I am recommending to my friends and family as a good buy, even for DVD
