I've seen a few people here asking how to change the frame rates. I have little doubt that different models of equipment work in different ways. My TV automatically changes the rate according to the source it is receivng and it lets you know so on screen. So if I want to switch between 24 and 60 I tell the player what rate to send to the TV and the TV switches rates to accomodate. I personally opted not to spend the extra money for the 120hz because I was un-impressed by it. Actually it looked quite good when playing back broadcast TV and animated Blu-Rays. But I too thought it made movies shot on film look too fake. If I watched a lot of sports on my HDTV I'd probably have opted for 120hz as the motion clearly is much smoother. To each his own I guess. I've been looking into this myself and heard that what you have to do is have your player running 24fps and/or have the Motionflow (or whatever it's called) turned off. Motionflow is best used for SD television. In-fact I heard people saying that it makes a big improvement on SD content. Last edited by ccplant; 05-17-2008 at 09:02 AM. |

That's because your eyes aren't used to it. I turned if off often after I first bought my tv; now I leave it on all of the time. It adds a lot to my picture. I've got big, thick hdmi running from my blu ray player to tv as well (10-point something giga herz or whatever the rating is) |

Anyway, I think this will be the new standard in HD. You can bet they'll perfect this and remove ALL judder from it in the future. |

This is a "STICKY"!!!! It has nothing to do with the 120hz, it has to do with cinemotion being turned on. |

I saw a setup at Best Buy playing Pirates of the Caribbean and thought it looked pretty awesome. I was trying to describe it to my friend and thought it looked kind of 3-D. The soap opera description above is an interesting way to describe it though.
