Is this something new??
My quote was related to ordering from Amazon.com into Canada. I have not ordered from other places in the US so depending on how they ship you could be charged fees. I have done dozens of orders from amazon.com into Canada and never paid anything at all on my end.

But there is a new twist now.......the Canadian $ has dropped significantly, and right now I don't think it's worth buying cross-border. Unless it's a phenomenal price.
Yes I just cancelled some amazon.com orders yesterday once I figured out they are a decent amount cheaper from amazon.ca with the exchange now at about 1.20x. I'm keeping all of my pre-orders that I got using the 3 for 2 sale from amazon.com since they are still cheaper but any new titles i order now I think I might start buying from within Canada. I'm hoping our dollar goes back up again or i'll have to slow down my Blu-ray addiction.

Same here, but I don't know if you noticed. I'm seeing a slight improvement in Canadian pricing. For instance, Ironman can be had for the same price here as on Amazon.com. The taxes you would have to pay are still cheaper than the shipping charge, plus you get immediate gratification.

I also just bought Roy Orbison: Black and White Nightat Costco in Etobicoke for $14.99....let's hope this continues.

Yes the prices here adjusted somewhat over this year so that now it is in most cases cheaper here when the exchange is 20%. HMV is one place that has decent prices too. They seem to have a lot of Blu-rays in a 2 for $50 deal a lot of the time. Amazon.ca has pretty good prices on Warner titles and some decent prices on others. I'm hoping that Walmart in Canada will start having more reasonable prices on Blu-rays. That would be the ideal place for me since it's just down the road.

Costco has Blu-ray's? That's great news. I haven't been there in a while but last I checked the one here still didn't have any.

I had a lot of amazon.com pre-orders and during the weekend 3 for 2 sale I moved most of them into nice packs of 3 so they are still cheaper than here. For example I got Iron Man in a 3-pack with 2 other movies so that I only paid about $16 for it. Once all my 3 for 2's are gone though i'll have to really compare prices on new orders.

Only a select few Costco's have BD's, but their selection is limited. Their pricing however is usually better than elsewhere.

I've heard that any orders under $60 go through without hesitation. Anything above that and you may get dinged, although I personally haven't.

There are a few releases that are so much better in the US and there are some releases that are so much better in Canada.

Do BD from Canada play in USA? Because I am really considering buying Nightmare on Elm Street if they do.

I have A Nightmare on Elm Street and the back says Region 1 so I would say yes.

All of North America is under region 1. Always has been for SD DVDs as well.

It is Region A for Blu-ray. Region 1 was the term for dvds. The only warning I would give about importing Canadian BDs is that a few French language BDs released do not contain English subtitles or dubbed soundtracks and would be of little value to those who do not speak French Canadian.
