Airwolf, an 80's show no one probably even remembers is getting a blu release, but Miami Vice, the most influential show than changes cop dramas after all looking the same for like the last 20 or so years, does not. I'm gonna chalk it up to copyright issues. They'd probably have to pay for the rights to the all the music in the show AGAIN. MV took a long time to come out on DVD, so I'm gonna guess it's the same story with blu-ray. I think the entire series was finally released some time around 2007-2008. So, unless they've been working on a blu-ray release since 2009 or so, who knows when we'll finally get it, if ever.

Loved Miami Vice back in the day, though only saw the first couple of seasons on TV; Excellent & iconic opening theme music, great plots & acting, and incredible soundtrack. Saw all 5 seasons of the show on DVD a while back, and it was very nostalgic. You actually feel as if you're back in the mid - late '80's when watching this - very nice.

I would definitely be up for a Blu release of the series...but ONLY if they were to ensure that the PQ would be significantly better than the regular DVD's. As I mentioned in another thread, the PQ of many '80's TV series is somewhat "soft", and I'm not sure how much it can be improved upon.....I'm not a technical expert when it comes to things like this, so don't know for sure either way. However, it is interesting that the '80's TV series Monsters & L.A. Law S1 were released earlier this year only on DVD, not Blu.

I thought Airwolf was pretty popular back in the day? I know I watched it a lot, I likely won't buy the set though as I don't like it enough to own it.

Well ok, to be fair I was born in 1984. There aren't too many people in my generation that are crazy nostalgic for the 80's as I am. However, whenever the subject of popular 80's tv shows gets brought up, everyone remembers Vice. When I mention Airwolf, everyone gets the question marks over their heads lol. After Vice, I'd say The A Team, Knight Rider, Magnum PI, Hawaii 5-0, Dallas, and Cheers are the ones people remember most. And this is only if we're talking about live action. If cartoons are brought up then obviously Ninja Turtles, Transformers, GI Joe, and He-Man are gonna be mentioned first

Among those listed the equalizer was popular back then too, that is another show I would love to own on Blu-ray. I would never miss an episode.

I've been skipping around my DVD sets of this show lately.

I just love it. I wouldn't double dip for many shows, but I would give just about anything to have Miami Vice on Blu-ray.

Universal, please.

The fact that the cinematography looks great on dvd makes me think that if it ever got a high-def release, it would be mind blowing!

I remember an insider posting in another forum some pictures of them remastering some of the episodes. I can't seem to find them again, Universal have to release it.

It would be great if this got a blu-ray release. It'd also be great if Mann's other tv series from the 1980's Crime Story got one too, or a least a better DVD release. And 2001's Robbery Homicide Division just needs something since it never even made it to dvd!

What I really want definitive proof of more than anything, is whether this show was shot with a widescreen print, and the negatives are just sitting in a warehouse somewhere. Cuz man, this show re-released in full scope, fully remastered in both video and sound, is something I'd pay like $500 for.

Didn't realize I was required to write an essay...

It was a television show, not a motion picture made for theatrical release. As such, it was shot 4:3, the aspect ratio of television.

It's so self-evidently true that spelling out why it's true seems almost redundant.

Alright, I let your "intellectual a-hole" attitude slide the first time, but now I'm not gonna be so nice.

1. This response of yours isn't an essay, it's a tweet.

2. Miami Vice was shot on film, not video. (that means it could've been shot in widescreen, in case you need it spelled out).

3. Miami Vice was made on NBC. (that means it''s one of the "big 3" in terms of tv channels, and thus has the kind of pull and cash that can warrant getting widescreen film instead of fullscreen film)

4. Miami Vice was one of the highest budgeted shows on tv at the time. (That means they more than likely took advantage of the money they had and went for the widescreen prints).

5. All these obvious things are also self-evidently true that spelling out why it's true seems almost redundant. But you wouldn't know that, since you obviously know nothing regarding the history of this show, and just joined in on this topic with your holier than thou attitude, as well as your internet attitude superiority complex to try to sound smart (which you didn't) and make me sound dumb (which you also didn't).

Little advice, your attitude ain't gonna help you make any friends around here. If this is your attitude on the internet, I don't wanna imagine your attitude towards people in real life.

Troll harder next time, cowboy.
