I thought the first one was pretty good but it was missing something. Miami Vice is a very innovative concept but they have to go up against other films they help create: Bad Boys, Lethal Weapons, Fast and the Furious(maybe?)I would like to see them do another one. Let also look at the feature the blu ray is bringing to the table like GPS, hopefully Mann and company will up the ante.

It might be interesting to see another go of Miami Vice if Michael Mann bothers to shoot it on film. Some of the video footage in Miami Vice was so bad looking it might have come from a surveillance camera rather than an expensive HD system with film camera lenses.

Mann is all about the digital, and he intentionally grained it up. The image you see is his desired end product

It's true, a friend of mine works for Universal's marketing department DBB Entertainment, and word is the script is in development and it promises more Miami, more action, and more style. Basically everything that the first one lacked, still picking up the first one on Blu though, it wasn't all that bad

And I, for one, thought it looked beautiful, even on DVD.

P.S.: Loved the movie, too.

I thought the movie was great and chocked full of Mann's trademark style and intensity. I think a lot of people wanted more of a popcorn action film and I'm REALLY glad that Mann didn't go that route. I would love to see a sequel though.

I just watched the UK HD DVD the other night with the wife. I hadn't seen the theatrical cut in awhile (not since theaters) so I wanted to see how it compared to the Director's Cut. I still prefer the DC as it fleshes the characters out more, but both are solid in my opinion. The video still looks great too. Can't wait for this one on Blu!

Now if we could only get some more Mann on Blu. I would love to see Heat, Last of the Mohicans, Ali, The Insider, Collateral and The Keep on Blu. I love them all. Even Manhunter would be great (just hope they use the right elements!!)

I thought Miami Vice was really under-rated, I thought it was very good. I'd love to see a sequel.

I agree with it being horrible. Definitely one of the worst movies I have seen in a long time.

I want "U-571" on Blu-ray, and I was considering getting the action pack... but you may have talked me into it. "End Of Days" isn't a film I love... but Byrne does play the devil well... and I haven't gotten around to seeing MV yet, and your first paragraph may have talked me into it.

Anxiously awaiting "Heat" and "The Insider", and would consider "Ali" for Smith and Voight's performances alone!

The original looked like it would be so entertaining, yet I dosed off in the middle of it. It was a big snooze fest for both my fiance and I. If they were to make a sequal, I'd consider seeing as I enjoy that style of movie, just would prefer to be considerably less boring.

i remember when i screened this...i remember wondering when it was gonna get to the action, and then it finally did after about 2 hrs 20 min into the movie the only problem is the movie was only 2 hrs and 30 min long.

another thing that bothered me is that these guys were supposed to be cops yet in the 2:30 runtime they did no actual police work that i could see.

also the runtime was absurd for the type of film it was.

that being said i'm all for another if they do it better.

I thought Colin Farrell looked stupid with a mustache, he forgot to add the red clown nose. This movie had a terrible cast and terrible acting.
