I'm glad the Vizio is a capable player... I'm probably going to buy it as my second player... I'm kind of a Vizio fan boy. I can't find a problem with the brand. I own a 22" LCD in my travel trailer, and a 32" in my bedroom... considered buying a larger one for the living room, but there's nothing wrong with my current TV...

Actually... I guess I do have a question. I don't know what you guys mean by pre-outs, analog out... all that. I would need to run HDMI to my tv, and digital optical to my stereo... can I do that or do I need to look for a different player?

Thanks you guys!
Yes you can hook it up that way. If your receiver had multi ch analog inputs & the Vizio player had multi ch analog outputs you'd be able to get lossless audio even if your receiver doesn't have HDMI( the player would decode the audio & send to the receiver as PCM ). You will get improved( over DVD audio ) lossy audio using digital optical output.

With optical you will be able to listen to standard Dolby Digital and dts tracks. The Analog 5.1 (Preamp) outputs (that the Vizio does not have) transfer the uncompressed formats (PCM 5.1, Dolby True HD, dts HD Master) out to receivers that do not have the decoding capabilities for the uncompressed soundtracks.
HDMI can transfer the streaming uncompressed to receivers that can decode the HD audio sound tracks.

Will this player output video via component to a TV and audio via HDMI to a receiver?

Old TV.....new receiver with latest audio codec capabilities.

The PS3 will do this.....can the Vizio?

I just purchased a Vizio VBR100 for $109 at Dell and should receive it within a few days. Just wondering if anyone has had any problems with the player? Does it play all blu-ray discs, and what about the firmware upgrades? Thanks for all the feedback in advance.

I got mine from Dell this morning. Was looking forward to using it. But apparently it is defective. Everything set up fine; usb stick, network, etc. But while fooling with the remote and pressing the colored ABCD keys the screen on my Vizio HDTV turned green and the BR player stopped responding to remote keypresses with the exception of off/on and the tv volume/mute.

I called Vizio support about it. They had no answers. They did offer leave it unplugged for 24 hours and see if it resets. I will try that but I doubt it works. So it is either back to Dell or Vizio said I could send it there for a replacement.

I just got this for Christmas and I can't get it to acknowledge the HDMI cord or figure out how to log in to some of the BD Live sites! There's no alpha keypad to make up user names!

I just got this fine Blu-Ray playing device a couple weeks ago and it is my first. I just want to say that I have enjoyed my HD experience so far. The upgrade to HD started when I decided to buy an HD television with an HDMI cable for my Xbox 360! The difference just blew me away! A few short months later I decided to upgrade my video viewing experience as well so I went out to purchase the Vizio VBD100 player and a BD (Rush: R30). I have to say that I was truly astonished by the video quality and I was instantly hooked! I don't regret my decisions one bit. Other than just the Blu-Ray aspect of the player, I enjoy the features the player have, such as the WiFi connectivity with the BDLive application. With BDLive, I set up my current Netflix and Pandora accounts to enjoy on this device. I created a VuDu account as well. I really enjoy being able to stream movies in HD instantly on the player. Other than that, setup for everything was quick and painless, so that's a plus! Anyways, I better stop talking. I am going to enjoy being a part of this site!
