Just Finished The Departed *No Spoilers* - Page 3 - Blu-ray Forum

When I select PCM audio on my blu ray copy of The Departed, it automatically switches on the english subtitles, causing me to have to turn the subtitles back off. Does anyone else experience this small problem?

I bought it kinda cheap from another vender on Amazon.com btw.

I'm holding out for a commentary track too......came very close to buying it for $7.99 on black friday.

well I enjoyed this film a lot, but it isn't as good as his other crime movies. It has been my observation that people jock certain films (usually new releases) on this board so hard! people going nuts for terminator salvation

it's an enjoyable film. But from a critical perspective, it's really not all that great. Especially when compared to the likes of GoodFellas or Casino.

There was very little I didn't like about this movie, but the rat shot at the end was definitely the biggest one. I am surprised that Scorcese went so obvious with that. Overall, great film though.

I don't know why people say the rat was "obvious." Obviously what? Sure, the whole movie was about "rats" but the last scene wasn't just saying "oh hee-hee he's a rat, get it!"

My thoughts exactly. People make a big deal about something that wasnt intened to be a big deal. Like you said its kind of a joke.

Im actually watching the movie right now (bought the blu on BF)... The only time I have seen it was when it first came to DVD and I LOVED IT.. so far second viewing has not disapointed. I do agree with what was said earlier though about wanting a commentary track, I will never give a film a perfect 5 (I actually go to 10 on my personal ratings) in the supp's dept. without a commentary... but the movie looks very nive, sounds very nice... LOVING IT

I saw The Departed in the theater when it came out and have watched it countless times on dvd. Once I upgraded tp blu I bought the bd and have watched it several times as well. I SERIOUSLY love this movie and all of the gun play in it makes for an awesome audio track!!!

One of the best gangster flicks ever, I would say it is nearly on par with Goodfellas. The cast (while I am not a big fan of Leonaro, Matt, or Mark) was amazing and I really felt that it was some of the best performances I have seen from many of the cast members. Plus I can't help but cheer watching Dicaprio and Damon trade punches.

Funny that this thread would be revived today, the day that I got it in the mail

I first blind bought this when it came out on DVD off my Physics teacher's recommendation. I like it and think it is a good movie but I do not love it. It is one of the films that made me realize Dicaprio is a pretty good actor in the right roles (the other being Gangs of New York and Catch Me If You Can).

scorsese has always been known for tongue in cheek and dark humor...this fits perfectly, a small taste of after hours and the king of comedy in the closing moments....wonderful

My favorite line. Jack Nicholsan - I havent needed the money since I took Archie's milk money in the third grade. I dont really need p***y anymore either, but I like it.

SO much talk on this site and others about the original, that I finally bought it.

Wasn't going to blind-buy the Blu from Japan, but did get the SD version from Amazon. It was good, guess maybe I like the stars and the environment too much in the remake to ever say I prefer the original. But at least I gave it a try.

Anyone want to buy a once-viewed SD copy of Infernal Affairs? Just let me know.

I wasn't really blown away by Infernal Affairs either, even though I know that's not a trendy opinion. There are plenty of Asian films that I find amazing too, so it's not the foreign factor. I just thought the Departed had more humor and better performances from the actors.
