I will contact Mondo, thanks. It can't hurt. The glowing ones do exist, I've seen photos of 'em in action. The whole thing lights up.

Interesting, yeah if you have a GID version, and it doesn't glow, there is a chance it was a defective one that slipped through with the GID inks, then you start to question if the original seller on eBay knew this ahead of time.

If it is defective, then I'm even more steamed that I spent $200 on a high-quality frame with mat. I didn't examine the poster when it arrived because I didn't want to risk damaging it by removing it from the tube, so I took it in the tube to the framing store. The seller had it up for pre-sale right after Mondo sold out, so there's no way he could have known at the time, as he hadn't even had it ship yet. Just my (lousy and expensive) luck.

Also, whenever you frame a print of value, make sure the framer doesn't drymount it, you want it loose between the glass/plexi-glass and the backing of the frame. Once you drymount a poster/print, the value decreases significantly. Not saying your framer did this, nor saying it would effect the glow in the dark inks, but you should start with contacting Mondo, inform them you got a variant, that doesn't glow and see what they say and maybe they can help you out. You would have to remove the print from the frame, I'd recommend you have the framer do that for you.

I wasn't thinking of resale value when I had it framed, as I have no intention of re-selling any of my posters. I believe the framer cautioned me that the poster would not be (easily?) removable once it was matted, but of course that wasn't an issue for me at the time. Even if Mondo does have an extra glowing version (no logical reason to think they would), I'm not paying $200 all over again to have a second one framed. At best, Mondo might refund me the $75 list price of the poster (even though I didn't buy it directly from them), but that doesn't really help much.

I am unsure if Mondo will refund you since you didn't technically buy the print from them, but they may replace it for you (again just a guess on my part), but you should contact the eBay seller and inform them that the print doesn't glow and ask if they were aware of it. Matting a print is one thing, I was referring to drymounting....that is when they spray an adhesive onto a large piece of flat styroam-like board and place the print on it and then put in a machine to seal it together....that is something you don't want to do to prints or posters, regardless if you are going to sell or keep.

Titanic still has it's popularity but its not as strong as it used to be. Remember the originals have gold colored credits, the reprints have blue colored credits.

I got your PM's, will respond later as I am heading out the door soon for a while.
I think with Titanic posters, the first run print posters left off Gloria Stuart. They also had golden shiny ink. Reprints add Gloria and use yellow ink instead of gold. The blue credit block poster is the international sheet.

This is off my Academy Award poster. It's shiny golden ink. Best $100 ever spent!

I'm going after this poster next! Can't wait!

You are correct about Gloria Stuart being left off the poster, but the international style featured different artwork than the domestic and both featured gold ink, there were reprints though with blue credits if memory serves me correctly.

Domestic "Final":

International "Final":
http://www.impawards.com/1997/titanic_ver3.html

The "Awards" style you have is quite a rare one to find so congrats on having one!

I have the final domestic and the variant. The variant I think was that the title wasn't in bold, but in regular lettering. Right now I'm hunting down the Golden Globes quad. I have a sick obsession with posters. Have to have them everywhere. Blank walls are the ugliest thing on the planet.

I wish I could find more movie posters with critics reviews on them. Usually they're video store posters. I've got a Sleepy Hollow poster from someome with a Newsweek quote on it. Love it!

Did you get UV or museum glass? That'll make the glow harder to charge. Try a dark room with lots of camera flash or flashlight app on your phone. If not then you got a super rare non-glow variant.

There aren't a lot of posters that are done with the critics reviewing them after the film comes out and starts getting Oscar buzz, etc, sometimes they re-release a film and in rarer cases put out a new poster with critics quotes on it, that isn't very common. The Dark Knight re-release from 2009 had a critics quote on it, and I believe there is a Sling Blade style as well, but can't remember if that was a poster or not or just an online image.

There is apparently an Unforgiven teaser advance that was made internally for those at Eastwood's production company that features the same poster design but rather than him holding the gun behind his back, is holding an Oscar. I believe only single-sided were made though, it wasn't something released theatrically though.

Hey Kinsella5, need your expertise. Any idea if these are originals?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/THE-SESSIONS...item2a306261f1

Seller is:
original1sheets

His prices are amazing and his feedback's perfect so before I jump on any of the posters thought I should just double check first. Your input would be much appreciated.

At those prices I'd just role the dice. His descriptions would certainly leave you to believe they are legit posters. I grabbed the Thor one as I prefer it over the DMR one I ordered and I also picked up the 007 one, I know it is a video one sheet, but it's kind of a Christmas "gag" gift. Thanks for the heads up.

No UV, not sure about museum glass. My friend explained to me that the glow needed to charge in order to work, so I placed the poster directly under a bright light for 8 hours, came back, flipped the lights off, and discovered, to my great relief, an eerily glowing skull grinning back at me!

I believe he is legit, I don't know that seller personally but I believe I know who it is. I think he also sells under the name HollywoodNoize or something like that, and I believe forum member ChuckT43 ordered a Star Trek: Into Darkness poster from him but questioned it's authenticity after opening the tube to a thick smell of ink. But that could have been from another seller. If the seller who is who I think he is, then he does get originals including international versions and looking at his auctions, he has a fair amount of internationals, so I am sure they are fine. I was surprised to see him selling a Skyfall video poster but in the "original one-sheets" category on eBay but at least he put an actual image up so people can clearly see its a video poster, but he should have put it in the proper category.

That Thor 2 poster he has up is a steal at that price, $18.50 is a fraction of what dealers charge but if you order it, you may want to contact the seller and verify if it is a domestic or an international. It won't really matter much due to the rarity of Thor 2 posters (mainly due to the fact that it is a Disney property and Disney posters are very difficult to get) as the stock image he is using is of the domestic final and sometimes people use domestic images but are really offering the international version, and vice versa. But regardless, his price on Thor 2 is very low and I would suggest anyone pick them up before he sells out.

I was under the impression you knew about the fact the poster needed light to recharge the glow-in-the-dark effects, but I guess I should have mentioned that in one of my earlier posters. But at least you now can breathe a sigh of relief and know you got what you ordered, glad to hear it worked out.

Hi, I actually wanted to get the thor 2 poster. Lol. Didn't wanna list it before it got sold out and before I could get it. I think the thor poster looks epic and would look pretty sweet as I'm trying to keep my posters in line with the theme I have in mind, which is blue-ish, red-ish and green-ish. So I'm using the thor poster to replace the blue-ish serenity poster.
Anyways what's the deal between the international and domestic version? What are the differences and why the difference in value?
Really appreciate your in depth information and expertise so far!
