Seamless branching:

Quote:
Seamless branching is a mechanism used on DVDs and Blu-ray Discs to allow the player to jump to a different scene after finishing one. The most common purpose is to have several versions of a scene within one film, without having to store the entire film on the disc several times.

It's now $24.99, same as Target.

Figured that would happen. Best Buy would be foolish not to match AMZ and target.

so, when i got home and opened Avatar, low and behold those ASS MONKEYS put those security stickers right on the inside picture. so, if i peel them off along comes the picture. so, u know what i did, took it back and complained. a manager was there when i went to CS so i showed him my problem. so, we went to the electronics got another one and opened it and it was done right. the stickers were on a little white card.

as we was walking to the front we started talking about movies and how i like my packaging perfect and he was like, "i'm the same way". he said, "i check to make sure there's no damage whatsoever." it was a nice talk but it got better. he gave me a $5 gift cardfor my troubles and being a person the he can relate to..

Great story! Worked out well for you in the end.

Just for clarification: There are NO security tags attached anywhere on the packaging. They will be placed in a white piece of paper inside.

Yep, just grabbed my copy on lunch. The store display says $29.99 but just tell them to match their own website which is $24.99.

My copy from Amazon arrived last night. It looks like a really nice package!

I'll probably have to wait until the weekend to dive into it though. Not something I want to take on sober.

Really liked the new opening! Feels weird though, seeing the film start off in a completely different way. I think, though, that it appropriately establishes Jake's character and what the stakes are for the humans.

Just saw the earth opening, the backgrounds feel like paintings. I think it got deleted pretty late in the game so maybe that's why it only looks 90% done. The material is good though, except the bar slap which felt a bit on the nose.

My copy from Amazon hasn't shipped yet. I sent them a nasty little e-mail explaining why you should never charge somebody's credit card until the product has left your warehouse.

[Show spoiler]Of particular note, did you notice the shot of Jake opening his eyes in his apartment bed, and how that resonates the final scene of the film?

Or the added scene with Grace telling him that she was his boss and maybe even a friend one day. It gave new meaning when Jake told the Na'vi, "my friend is dying."

Does anybody else think the Extended Cut looks better than the original theatrical blu-ray release? I swear it looks miles sharper.

BTW, this thing is absolutely beautiful despite the stupid slips. Why couldn't they just use the same design as the Alien Anthology?

I thought the exact same thing. I am on a 150" projection screen so I can easily see those subtle differences and it really seemed to me that it looked better. Even though it wasn't on the last release, the school-house scene looked amazing from a video standpoint, maybe WETA simply got better at it or something for the added scenes.

Either way, its an excellent transfer, still holds the crown for showing off my home-theater.

I wonder if they have touched up some of the special effects from the Theatrical release

Just picked up my copy but, I'm at work and cannot watch it yet.

I can comment on the packaging. I have a love hate relationship with this packaging. It looks great and the box and book are nice and thick/strong. It is all very nicely presented. I hate the stupid sliding out flaps that the discs are housed in. My first disc has a small cluster of scratches that look big enough to hinder playback. Whoever designed these flaps should never design cases again. It is ashamed too, because everything else about the set is really nice. It feels like they designed the book and box case and forgot to add spots for the disc and, then threw this flap idea together at the last minute. Feels really, really cheap compared to the rest of the package.

Now I have to decide if I'm going to exchange the disc (to a store 15 minutes in the wrong direction when going home) or wait and see if the scratches affect playback. Really, really disappointed about this, the studios need to stop this fancy package stuff if they are not going to put more thought into how the disc are held within the case. Thankfully, I have the original Avatar BD and can use that artwork in a 3 disc BD case instead. That's sad because, the new set looks great but, its function as a case for discs sucks.

I read that they did, so it wouldn't surprise me if it did look better.
