The attack on Hometree being Justifiable is utter delusion.
They were bulldosers destroying trees not Navi. The Navi attacking them was not self defense. Retailtory strikes and proportionality don't mix. If your attacked and your men murdered a military is obligated to avenge there deaths. Not a single retaliation in the history of warfare has ever been proportional. Just the thought of such a thing is fairly ridiculous. Fact is the Navi attack was rightfully deleted and should not have been cut back in. Now Avatar is essentially a movie where the bad guys win.

They are the bad guys only if you have a completely warped sense of right and wrong

Ok...no need to be an ass about it.

Just because YOU like the cardboard holders, doesn't mean others have to. Everyone's entitled to their own opinion. I don't like the way they hold the Blu-Rays...in the end I'm the one buying the disc for myself so I'm going to get whichever one I prefer.

Don't know why some of the people on here get all smart with others for disliking something that someone else likes...not everyone likes the same things.

So believing that its wrong to murder human beings to save trees makes my moral sense warped?

Those trees were living parts of the Na'vi culture and ecosystem. The were sacred ground which housed their history.

An attack on it, was an attack on them. They weren't "just trees."

I agree, the trees are part of their lifeline, they would cease to exist if it wasn't for the trees.

Repeat after me:

Pandora is not real.

A disc is just a disc (regardless of the packaging)

Now breathe.

Are the chosen "aliens" gonna wear gas masks whenever they're outside for the rest of the lives?

1. The scene with the Navi attack was the most self defeating scene in motion picture history. It totally robbed the Navi of all there sympathy and essentially made the attack on home tree completely justified retaliation.

2. Tsu'tey's new death really showed a missed opertunity. It would have been far more interesting if he was so consumed with jealousy over losing Netyri that he attempts to betray his people and hurt Jake. It would have added fantastic depth to the Navi and make them flesh out characters if we saw alittle dark side. However he ends up just dying a cliqhed Noble savage death and is just another Noble savage with no characterization beyond that. Sad what a missed opportunity that was.

3. New beasties were alot of fun and the new hunt was very cool.
Heh. Your post reads like "I hated all that stuff that made the film more morally complex, but man those new creatures are SWEET!"

I don't care if the Navi found them sacred. Human lives trump trees. Sounds like you and the movie are advocating eco-terrorism.

Thank you to everyone who calmed my neuroses about the Best Buy sticker on the Avatar CE slipcover.. I was able to peel it off on my own without any residue left--no need for Goo Gone or the like. Phew!

Because in a lot of ways Pandora is similar to Earth. But the biggest difference of course is the planet's atmosphere. That's why humans can't breathe there and the animal and plant life has evolved differently, and why the weather is different, etc.

Isn't that exactly what our planet is?
