Default lol at BB

went there and got the CE Avatar BD they had it for 29.99 so I price matched WM at 24.96 and the kid at the register told me they didn't price match WM.com. I told him I've done it plenty of times before. So he did it and said they're not supposed to do it. I guess the store manager has told them to try and get away from price matching for the holidays so just wanted to give you guys a heads up because they are trying to BS us.

When I'm paying $24.99, I better have a package that can keep the discs safe. I've heard enough complaints about people's discs getting scratched and tons of blemishes from this shit packaging. If you want to go ahead and spend your hard-earned money on something that could get scratched to hell by picking it up and maybe having it in the car with you (moving in the box from the car) or if you were to accidently drop it, then go right ahead. I won't be.

Today though, after taking them out 2-3 times yesterday & once today to watch, it seems a bit more workable, thankfully.

I'd LOVED to have ordered the UK version with the 3-disc Amaray case, but as you noted, all the extras on discs 2 & 3 would be wasted (unless one would want to retrofit their BD player to make it region free; thus voiding most warranties).
Thanks. It took a little work to get the book with the discs out of the slipbox the first time like I said. I even shook the slipbox a little bit while getting it out and all of my discs were still in their holders just fine when I finally opened the book, which also shows that the packaging is just fine. I get that people don't want to worry about their discs since most of us want to keep our whole collection has mint as possible, but I think people are getting way too worked up over this packaging. It's not perfect, but it is still much better than most packaging that isn't a regular case. Battlestar Galactica this is not.

I was locked in to getting the US version even if the UK version was completely region free since I took advantage of Amazon's deal of getting $5 off another movie, but I'm fine with what I have anyways. I had an idea that they could have made the book a little thicker and had disc trays slide out instead of cardboard holders, but that's not practical since it would be hard to get the discs out then. Once again, I'm fine with what I have.

Once again, in what I just posted before I edited this into my post.... I shook the slipbox that holds the book with the discs when I was removing the book from the slipbox the first time and the discs were all still in their holders just fine. Also, discs can fall out of regular cases too when the case is dropped.

Some people seem to be forgetting that this is the only option for people in the US anyways. People are welcome to get the UK set if they want, but they won't be able to watch the second or third discs if they don't live in the UK.
My Blu-Rays don't just sit on the shelf. I watch my Blu-Rays often and take them to other people's houses. I hate the cardboard packaging, to each their own.

I have a region free Blu-Ray player so I'm getting the UK set. I doubt I'll even watch the extras anyways, I'm buying this mostly for the extended cut than extras. If I ever DO want to watch them, I can since I can just switch my region on my Blu-Ray player at will.

I've seen PLENTY of other people complain about how the holders DIDN'T hold their discs well. I'd rather not risk it and just get the UK cut. Better safe than sorry.

You can't scratch Blu-ray discs "to hell" unless your taking razor or a screwdriver to it on purpose. But if your worried about violent car rides and 4ft drops more power to you.

I can respect the fact that some might prefer regular cases as opposed to the cardboard holders, but this packaging is still far from the debacle known as Battlestar Galactica.

I was unaware that you had a region free Blu-ray player, but the fact that the second and third discs are Region B locked would still be an issue for most people in regards to the UK set. In your case though, go with whatever packaging makes you happy.

All of the packaging should react the same unless there are a few faulty ones here and there. As already stated, I shook the slipbox slightly when trying to get the book with the discs out and all of the discs were fine. I didn't shake it heavily, as that would be crazy with any packaging, but I still think some people are overreacting.

Can someone tell me if two SteelBooks will fit in the slipbox? I know the height is okay since the slipbox is taller than a standard blu-ray, but I'm wondering if it is wide enough to fit two SteelBooks in it. I'm tempted to source the packaging to house both Avatar SteelBooks.

I highly doubt 2 Steelbooks would fit in the slip box cover. It's not That thick, just Under 1" wide (just measured)

Thanks for the quick response. So, close. I just measured 2 SteelBooks side-to-side, and they are a little over 1". Ah well, it was an idea that popped into my head when I saw pictures of the slipbox.

just picked this up at walmart, which was selling it for 34.95. had them price match Target for 24.99. i like the packaging. i realized awhile ago that when i take my movies somewhere or let my brother in law borrow some, i put the discs in some blank dvd cases i have. strange that i want to leave the cases at home, but they seem to scratch easy.

anyway, psyched to watch this on friday. at first i didn't want the extended cut and told myself to wait for the 3d version. oh well, sold the barebones version to pawn shop and picked up the extended. yes the disc holders are cheese, but overall a sharp looking set.

I just got my copy at BB. Had them price match the website. It still cost $27.24. I f#cking hate the taxes here. I have a $10.00 coupon, but I can't use it until at least Saturday. I paid too much but oh well. I don't like the film, but I am a total eye candy whore, so I might as well get it. I'm in love with the cgi.

lol - still tired it appears (commas, periods, anyone?)

seriously though, yes is the answer to your question. go back & watch the last 20-30 minutes; you'll see what scene I'm talking about
[Show spoiler](it involves a characters' death & Jake - that's all I should really say)

Ive finally seen the Avatar extended cut and I have a few observations to share

1. The scene with the Navi attack was the most self defeating scene in motion picture history. It totally robbed the Navi of all there sympathy and essentially made the attack on home tree completely justified retaliation.

2. Tsu'tey's new death really showed a missed opertunity. It would have been far more interesting if he was so consumed with jealousy over losing Netyri that he attempts to betray his people and hurt Jake. It would have added fantastic depth to the Navi and make them flesh out characters if we saw alittle dark side. However he ends up just dying a cliqhed Noble savage death and is just another Noble savage with no characterization beyond that. Sad what a missed opportunity that was.

3. New beasties were alot of fun and the new hunt was very cool.

I thought the scene with the Navi attack added a lot to the film, greying some of the lines between right and wrong, and good and evil. It added a lot for me.

The part with Tsu'tey fits; it didn't really enhance or take away from the film. Although it made it very clear that Jake was now the leader. Good for him.

lol no. If anything it makes them a lot more sympathetic, as we now see that they have the drive to fight for their land on their own, they aren't content to sit back. Their attack on the humans was completely justified, and the human retaliation was disproportionate in the most inhumane way possible.

The attack on Hometree being Justifiable is utter delusion.

Um... mine was shipped from Amazon, via plane and truck, and I'm sure it got jostled around a lot... and look! omg! no scratches.

Next.
