Not painful at all, given it looks downright amazing in 2D. 3D isn't everything.

There are also severlal extensions, inlcuding the new animal fighting along side the navi, and the final fight with Jake is extended. , along witht the scene you are mentioning.

The first one is one of the deleted scenes, the second is just mentioned in the movie but never actually seen.

I don't specifically know the name of the scene, but it's the one where Selfridge threatens to get him sent back to Earth.

It may look great in 2D but 3D is how Avatar was meant to be seen. Watching it in 2D is like watching a widescreen movie in pan scan. Yeah you can enjoy the movie but something is always missing.

Don't know if I'd agree with you even though I've seen the movie in Imax 3D. The 2D standard edition still blows me away. Not that I wouldn't want the 3D version. I'll wait the 2 years and if 3D television is still around I'll consider it at that point.

Avatar in IMAX 3D rules!

Drove an 80-mile round trip to the IMAX theater 7 times to see it, lol.

I also just ordered the new Oppo BDP-93 today, can't wait to watch my Collectors Edition of Avatar with that - should hopefully have it by the end of the week...

Whatever happened to store exclusives in the US? I thought Avatar would have about a dozen exclusives between the original release and the re-release. But I'm not aware of any for either release.

I was actually considering importing the books that came with each release in the UK. But I just found out that bigger, better (and cheaper) versions of those books exist over here. So I went ahead and ordered the Field Guide and the Making of Avatar. I guess I'll create my own exclusive version.
