Your biggest concern about Chicago is whether or not their offers they made to their FA and RFA are valid are not. Apparently foul play is in effect.

From TSN.

Sources tell TSN the NHL and the NHLPA are investigating what might have been an enormous mistake by the Chicago Blackhawks.

Chicago tendered qualifying offers to several key players this week, including Kris Versteeg, Cam Barker, Ben Eager, Colin Fraser, Aaron Johnson and Troy Brouwer, however the investigation underway is to determine whether the qualifying offers were filed correctly.

If not, there is the remote possibility the qualifying offers could be ruled invalid and the players listed above, conceivably, could be deemed unrestricted free agents because of the blunder.

There are few details, but one source says the players involved didn't receive the necessary notification of the offers.

The National Hockey League is in the process of trying to determine whether the situation was remedied in time.

Chicago general manager Dale Tallon says the qualifying offers were mailed to the players in time, on June 29th, but says because of the July 1 holiday, some of the players didn't receive them in time.

Additional sources say qualifying offers are not supposed to be mailed.

Overnight delivery via courier and direct fax to the players agent is preferred and certified or registered mail is acceptable only if the other means are unavailable.

Tallon says fax copies of the offers were sent to the league, so he doesn't anticipate any significant fall out.

However, sources say some of the qualifying offers were not faxed to the agents.

Slow news day, eh?

Sounds like a posible administrative issue, not foul play.

The article even says REMOTE possibility RFA's could be UFA's. No sense in until there is something more concrete.

I would love for chicago to fall apart and all those players become free agents and get picked up by other teams and hossa loses his cup chance again.

I love our lines, but am worried about goalies, as usual. I just hope Howard is finally ready to step up.

Looks like Hudler wants a pay raise.

Amazing how even after losing 2 major pieces to the puzzle (Samuelson, Hossa) they still look like favorites in their conference. The lines listed above look phenominal. Hard to find many weaknesses in those lines, with the exception of possibly goaltending. Will Holland finally make a move and pickup a younger goalie? I've been hearing rumors he was interested in Niemi from my blackhawks, who just resigned to a 1 year deal with us.... Time will tell. Nevertheless, the Wings will enter the start of next season as a top contender for the cup.

Cant say i blame Hudler. His stats look like that of players making $3M+. I'm betting he gets his money.

As for Zherdev, meh. Pay looks fine to me there...

Yes. While coming back from all his injuries and producing like he was is very impressive I still think being in the final year motivates a player even more to do well.
Not sure what to tell you other than that i respectfully disagree 100%. The numbers were laid out for you, but you still think he had a career year cuz it was his "contract year"

That cliche gets a little old, and is only applicable in certain spots. This aint one of them. Assuming Marty recovers from that vicious hit he took in the playoffs, i expect him to put up HUGE numbers in Minnesota. The Wild got the biggest bargain of the offseason if he does. Without Gaborik, Havlat will be the centerpiece to that offense. Look for him to put up 85 points + this upcoming season if he stays healthy. Then i'll come back and say i told you so.

It amazes me that without a "huge" TV contract, players who get between 30 and 40 points a season can still sign deals worth more than 2 million bucks a yr.

Even with the cap, the league is out of control.

Hudler would be a much bigger loss for the Wings than Hossa or Sammy.

Kovalev .. Ottawa; Komisarek... Toronto; Begin.. Boston. We just need Tanguay / Koivu to sign with Boston or Buffalo to complete the biggest slap in the face.

I would have liked to have signed Kovalev. Not for 5 million though.

Leafs sign Beauchemin. Leafs are going to be hard to play defensively next year.

the Wings have a good goalie named Larsson that is in Grand Rapids... if Howard doesnt play well, i wouldnt doubt it if he was called up...

I just read that Jonas Gustavsson signed with the Leafs. One year for $810,000 plus a $90,000 bonus.

Koivu reunited with his buddy Teemu. I wish he could have stayed in Montreal but at least he is with his buddy for one year and than I assume he'll go to his brother in Minnesota.

Reports are saying Hudler signed with the KHL.
