Lightsaber duels are better? You mean more UNREALISTIC! Not to mention so uneven.

Lets see hmm: Qui Gon cant beat Maul but Obi Wan can beat Maul yet he cant handle Dooku. Dooku can beat Anakin in 2 pretty easy but Anakin makes it look easy in sith. Anakin loses to Obiwan in Sith....yeah Im following you. Oh and go back and watch Sith again, its funny to see Anakin and Obi twirling their lightsbares in frontof each other for like 20 seconds doing nothing....what were they just showing off who could spin the sabre faster? Those films are an utter joke and I wont even go into a romance with no chemistry whatsoever or the wooden acting by half the cast.

umm....Qu Gon = old, Maul and Obi = young. So it's not a surprise that Obi was able to hang with Maul and defeat him. Same story with Dooku. Dooku was more experienced and a practicing Sith, and Obi Wan wasn't even a Jedi Master at that point. Of course Dooku was going to win that fight.

Anakin was an apprentice in AOTC, and was a Knight in ROTS. He fought Dooku with help from the dark side in ROTS, as well. He gave in to his anger and that was enough to help him kill Dooku. This should all be fairly obvious, even to the most jaded viewer.

you can spin it anyway you like.

It was Lucas flying by the seat of his pants...he always has! Hell he left so many plot holes between the two trilogies its not even funny then he goes and screws with the masterpieces to FIT the inferior prequels when he should have made his new ones fit the older films. But im sure with a few more butcher jobs on the originals he can fill all the plot holes.

Actually Dooku was a very powerful Sith Lord like Sidious. He was actually instructed by Sidious to only stop Obi-Wan and use that to turn Anakin. That's why you see him whaling on Obi-Wan but never going for the kill against Anakin. It also explains the look of complete horror, shock and betrayal on his face when his master demands that Anakin take his life.

The force was with him when fighting Anakin, and Anakin made a stupid error in judgment that anyone could have taken him down because of.

As stupid as "the force was with him" sounds, that's one of the "rules" in these movies that you have to go along with, an "original fan" like you should know that now shouldn't you.

Anakin didn't make an error in judgment in their first fight. He wasn't trained well enough to keep his stamina up to maintain that level against Dooku and he wore out, then Dooku sliced off his arm. In their second fight, Anakin is fully trained and much more experienced and his rage from their first fight gives him everything he needs to quickly overwhelm the older Sith Lord.

I'm talking about when he fought Obi-Wan and did the flip over him.

Oh okay, yeah that is one of the worst errors I've seen on film, they could've come up with a lot of better ways for Anakin to get sliced up, especially since he's the most powerful Jedi at the time. I guess blind rage and jealousy and pride got the best of him there, though.

I thought it was a good idea.

It was very effective in showing just how arrogant he truly is (which they warn him of several times in the 2nd and 3rd movies). That was the point they were going for.

But lets get back to the topic of the thread now, we've derailed your thread enough.

To me, Anakin's force leap towards Obi-Wan Kenobi is "Greedo shooting first", it's the thing about the PT that I will probably never get over. Yes, Obi-Wan was his teacher and that's why he was able to survive the lightsaber duel. However, Obi-Wan was obviously a very poor teacher since his student tried to leap over an opponent in a higher position with a lot more experience and training that then pretty much cut him in half.

He's a special director and I think he deserves to be in the top 10 but he's very hit and miss and a bit too campy to be the best ever. He could certainly make a case for himself by making Alice in Wonderland a movie to remember for all time, though.

Ed Wood.

His movies were brilliant, in a bad way.

But seriously, it would have to be Hitchcock. I love movies with a little suspense.

And he uses Johnny Depp and his wife in all of his movies.

People accuse Michael Bay of doing the same thing over and over again...
