Default Greatest director ever?

George Lucas! He started blue-screen movies I think and forever changed Hollywood. Not just with his movies or his ideas but with his special effects like ILM and I think anyone who thinks he's lost it needs to see his movies again, soon!

Thumbs up Hands down, Clint Eastwood all the way!

He is simply untouchable in all of Hollywood, be it as an actor, director, etcetera!

Long Live Clint Eastwood-err-Clint Eastwood, The Great!

James Cameron. If Jesus hadn't been crucified first, he would have been. They also share the same initials. Can it be any more obvious?

Default Stanley Kubrick...by a mile

Stanley Kubrick, by a mile.

Don't take my word for it, take Spielberg's: "Stanley Kubrick is the greatest shooter of motion pictures ever" (The SHining, Blu-ray special features, Spielberg interview)

He has arguably shot the best movies in 3 different genres:

1. Sci-Fi: 2001
2. Horror: The Shining
3. Dark Comedy/Satirical Comedy: Dr. Strangelove

edit: also arguable, War: Full Metal Jacket.

Really, over Clint Eastwood-err-Clint Eastwood, the Great?!

If so, do you also favor the Terminator movies, Alien movies, The Abyss and too many other James Cameron movies to mention over the Dirty Harry movies, Unforgiven, Absolute Power and far too many other Clint Eastwood movies that he directed to mention?

OMG you can't be serious! He is a terrible director when it comes to working with actors! Just watch that CRAPOLA call Revenge of the Sith and Attack of the Clones! Those two films were an embarrasment to the franchise! Especially AoTC.

Jeez I can name 5-10 directors right now that are better, not to mention all the dead ones. Now I said Director, not writer, not producer, not special effects pioneer. You said DIRECTOR.....

the sad thing is after looking at this board for months 90% of you think fast paced big explosions and great special effects make a film. Too bad most of the crap Hollywood spews out now is just that....crap. Want to see great film? Go to an arthouse theater and get away from the mainstream stuff. You just might be amazed at what you see.
