Yes, we do.
I'm sure Obama will try to destroy that if he gets in office.

I'm pretty sure that in an interview with Lucas some time ago I read that the revamps were the way that he originally intended the trilogy to be seen (Don't ask me for a damn link cause I don't have one). Due to money/technology issues, the original versions (my preference) are what they are. I also believe that in this same interview, which i only remember reading, that GL would only reproduce SW on future media 'the way he originally envisioned it' (aka, the revamps). If anyone isn't a lazy sob like me and has also heard this or knows such things, more power to you.

They better release AT LEAST the older versions with remastered sound and picture quality. No superimposed Jabba the hutts, please!

They replaced some holograph characters with more recognizable recent characters, and replaced some scenes of Jabba the Hut with a CGI Jabba. I think they may have enhanced the space battle scenes as well.

After discovering this, I felt very disappointed that I didn't watch the originals for the first time.

Which Star Wars should we get on Blu?
They should put both.

I just hope the Blus have a super duper updated release that fixes the DVD issues. I wouldn't mind more changes to fix up some of the shots that are going to look bad in HD as well. Ep 1 is going to need some work.

I must be the only person in the world that loved every change done in Episode VI ending. Better song and I prefer Hayden in the end.

If so, it'll be a huge hit.
At least they didn't talk like a retarded Rastafarian...and at least they didn't look like crappy (and lazy) CGI graphics rendered on an Atari 2600.

It is agreed that Jar Jar was much worse than the dancing ewoks.

And Episodes 4-6 were much better than 1-3.

In 4-6, the dancing ewoks were only in episode 6, and only for a little while ~so overall it is forgivable.

In episodes 1-3, you were consistently bombarded with Jar-Jar. And episodes 2 & 3 contained Mannequin Skywalker (aka Hayden Christensen with his lifeless acting ~ Paraphrased from Clerks 2).

I still want a Revenge of the Sith with extended scenes that show Anakin murdering the younglings. That would have made the movie 10 times better.

I was there for the originals. I like the 2004 versions better except the whole Han not shooting first part. As much as I love the originals I am grateful for the overhaul Lucas did. I do think the Blu's should contain both versions though to give us a choice. Episodes IV-VI are better movies than I-III though.

All 6, it's totally possible + the clone wars movie and all extra features, one disc. If not it's an instant failure!

they need to release the chistmas special also, who wouldn't love to watch wookies talking wookie talk and not being able to understand a damn thing for the first 15 minutes.... then being able to watch lea sing on top of it. classic!!!!
not to mention how coked up princess lea was during the show, it is a classic !!!!! too bad lucas wants all copies destroyed.

the originals are better, once he changed han to shoot second that ruined the movie... and i agree with the end of episode VI with the holograms , pure crap.

i love the boxes you can see around the tie fighters in the original, you can see them plain as day on the laser disc releases. it makes it campy and that is why i like it. plus... its a freakin 70's movie, it should look like one, not a 90's movie.

yeah that really pissed me off. just delete some history, no one will care... off topic - I recently watched ET again on cable, those walkie talkies look so lame.

I'll hang onto my original cuts from the best buy tin, until they release those on blu-ray, which may or may not happen. I won't be buying the special editions on blu-ray.

I would imagine that there will be several different flavors of Blu-ray releases available when the films are finally released.

Here is an example of what I would do with a release of the original trilogy (Episodes IV, V and VI) in a special edition Blu-ray collector's set. A similar set would be available for the later three films, and a massive set that would contain all six.

Original Trilogy Ultimate Blu-ray Collection

It would be a ten-disc, all BD-50 ultimate collection set with all films presented in high-bitrate AVC compression at 1080P/24.

This is what it would contain:

The first BD-50 disc would contain both the original 1977 theatrical release of Star Wars and the 1984 re-release with the "Episode IV: A New Hope" title and changes selectable via seamless branching.

The second disc would contain all of the Special Edition versions of Star Wars from 1997 to present - again, available via seamless branching.

The third disc would contain the very different rough cut/workprint version of the original film.

Disc four would be the 1980 theatrical release of The Empire Strikes Back.

Disc five would contain all of the Special Edition versions of Empire from 1997 to present via seamless branching.

Disc six would contain the 1983 theatrical release version of Return of the Jedi.

Disc seven would contain all of the Special Edition versions of Jedi from 1997 to present via seamless branching.

All seven movie discs would contain additional special features such as (but not limited to) audio and video commentaries, storyboard comparisons, bluescreen elements versus finished composites, trailers (both HD and TV versions), etc.

Discs eight, nine and ten would contain all-new, high definition, full-length documentaries and featurettes, plus all of the previous DVD documentary materials and other extras, with as much of the material presented in HD as possible. Also, the original TV "Making of" documentaries that were produced by Robert Guenette back in the days of the original theatrical runs would be included - retransferred from the original films and presented in high definition.

An archive section would contain files with all of the script texts, storyboards, posters and promotional materials, and photos of various collectibles marketed throughout the years. Finally, the rare Star Wars Holiday Special would also be included in SD.

There would also be interactive, BD-Live features included as well.
