Close, but its:

1: From Russia With Love
2: On Her Majesty's Secret Service
3: Casino Royale
4: Goldfinger
5: Goldeneye
6: Dr No
7: For Your Eyes Only

For a truly boring Bond, try Diamonds are Forever... snooze-orama. At least Man with the Golden Gun had some comedy, Moonraker had campy space action, and View to a Kill... well the first half (except the opening) was pretty good.

I find action sequences incredibly boring, so the lack of action in the movie is a huge plus for me. Modern movies tend to have overly long action sequences, during which there is no character or plot development, and no dialog to hold the viewer's interest. I generally just sit through them bored senseless, waiting for them to finish so the real content of the movie can resume.

Craig doesn't look old, he looks rugged and tough, like Bond should look.
then Craig looks way older than the other actors. Specially in some close-up shots of his wrinkled face.

First it was 1963 and in line with films of that time period
what people know as "Bond" today really began with "Goldfinger"
I would suggest you try "Thunderball" which was made in 1965 you might find that more like James Bond of today, FYI "Thunderball" was remade in 1983
and called "Never Say Never Again"

Everyone is entitled to not like a film, classic or not. But in this case, you really will find that you are swimming against the current!

Regarding Craig's age, I had a nasty realization while I was standing in line for Casino Royale. Craig is the first actor to play Bond who is younger than I am. Ouch.

PM me a price-shipped, and I'll take them off your hands for you
Sorry to be pulling up an old thread here, but I FINALLY watched FRWL last night and I have to say I didn't really like it very much. I did, however, like Dr. No. Not sure why the difference here, but I think the womanizing/playboy thing was a little too much for me in this film and felt there was not enough background and development of Tatiana and why she was falling for James!

Anyways, I have the Steelbook version and looks like I'll be selling very cheap for a quick sale! PM me if interested.

Well, 3 more Bonds still to watch: Thunderball, LALD, FYEO! Saw DAD in the Theater and knew not to purchase, haha!

Keeping the discussion (ahem) BACK on Vintage-vs.-Current Bond (and leaving the all-encompassing "Well, do we still like old movies anymore?" generica for clueless newcomers who want to keep up their end of the discussion without having actually seen the movie):

1) Rosa Klebb is an interesting villain on paper, but just not on screen, especially when she isn't for 80% of the movie--
Too Cold-War, too misogynistically created, and like having Frau Farbissinia be the main villain of an Austin Powers sequel.

2) Oh, what suspense--Is the Russian girl going to fall for James or not?
(I enjoyed the line in Thunderball where
[Show spoiler]the unrepentant mid-level villainness taunts Bond with "Oh, right, this's where I'm supposed to fall completely for you after one kiss, join the good guys and betray my employer?..."
)

3) I had to look back at the movie to recall just WHAT exactly was being fought over--
We remember the Bonds that had World-Dominating Villains with clear objectives--"Goldfinger" and "Dr. No" may have been "sillier" than "On Her Majesty's Secret Service", but at least we remembered the main villains and their Evil Plots...Say "Auric Goldfinger", and everyone quotes The Line.
(Okay, who was the villain in "Diamonds Are Forever"?--And no, it wasn't the Weird Gay Hitmen.)

I'll confess to liking DN and GF and finding FRWL a bit saggy in the middle (and "Live and Let Die" squickily UK-racist, produced by a country where they don't have black people)--
But that's from actually having SEEN the movies in question, and answering posts based on that criteria. Always livens up a discussion.

Pretty much how I feel, QoS was the most disappointing film of the year for me

I'm sure the studio is just as disappointed. From viewing the numbers, starting with CR this reboot has tanked here in the US. CR did mediocre numbers at best, and it looks like QoS is not even going to match those numbers. The reality is that the reboot and Daniel Craig have not won over American audiences at all. Craig was from the beginning the most controversial choice to play Bond to begin with, not resembling Fleming's Bond or past 007's in any way shape or form.
Craig and CR fans came out in droves the first week of release and at first it looked like maybe QoS was going take off, but the reality is that after the first week or so it was over attendance-wise. The numbers have fallen off dramatically ever since.
If there is a Bond 23, look for another reboot and new 007.

don't get me wrong i'm a big fan of the bond movie and daniel craig i know he has a say in the way bond do thing but it is the producer who decide at the end what to do with bond and it is at them that my anger is directed in the past movie bond was a spy a dangerous men but we fell in love with him because of the air of sophistication that he had in cr and quantum it's no longer there i know i know in quantum is at the beginning of his career but in the next movie it needs to be there and what need to be there also is the gadjets that we love to see him used specially inside is car in quantum i would have had more respect for bond had he used the aston-martin of the past movie the chase would have ended soonner maybe but with the car still intact rather than have destroyed a piece of art like the 2008 aston. what needs to be there also is q, moneypenny, and m. in the past bernard lee (m) was used with moderation in quantum m has been turn into bond mommy and psychologist and she all over the movie maybe too much in the past movie bond would receive his marching order and be on his way but now his boss follow his everywhere and one other thing i hate how the producer have try to make bond politically correct in every situation we fell in love with bond because he would sleep with beautiful woman and we would be jealous but in quantum she get out of the car and disappear well... not a great ending frankly i,ve seen better ending in the bond of the past, all and all the future of the bond movie need to be better it is dangerous for bond to be compare to jason bourne it is suppose to be the other way around after all bond in cinema history is the king of all spy and the king is not suppose to be compare to the new kid on the block well that's it for my complaint between past and future if i have other complaint i will let you know bye all.

Please tell me you're kidding.

QoS had a budget of $225 Million.

So far worldwide it's made over $500 million. I'm fairly sure that MGM doesn't give a flying F**k what it has made in the U.S. and what it has made internationally. Facts are it's made money for them, so they will continue making them.

In fact, worldwide it's just under the numbers for Terminator 2. I don't think that you'd call Terminator 2 a flop. So why the harshness against QoS? Because YOU didn't like it doesn't mean that the REST OF THE PLANET didn't like it either.

As for your {incorrect} assumption {as I'm figuring you're not basing what you're saying on ANY hard numbers at all} that CR did only mediocre business in the 'States {because every movie only strives to make money in the States and none are EVER released internationally} it had a budget of $150 million and it made $167 million. It made it's money back in Theaters alone. Tack onto that anything that it made in DVD/Blu-Ray sales and you've got a winner.

Must be why it's still in theaters then..............

Unlikely. Craig is still making them money.

Dude, would you like to buy some punctuation? Maybe a capital letter or two? Perhaps a carriage return?

Ordinarily, I don't go grammar-nanny, but seriously, are you even aware of just how unreadable this is? Even if you had some good ideas in here, no one's ever going to know. Stream-of-consciousness is no fun to read.

ESPECIALLY in countries where it wasn't opening the same week as the crazed "Twilight" fangirl stampede.

(I was hoping we wouldn't have to go through this whole box-office reality-check thing again, especially with "Bolt"... )
