I think that the Star Trek TOS Combos will fail inthe marketplace by and large.

For one, many HD people will wait for the BDs with an expectation of lower price tag since no Combo.

Secondly, unless they are priced very attractively, the SD people will pass.

This will be the third release of TOS! The first was discs with pairs of episodes, which I have many of. Then came the box sets. Now new box sets?

There will be some hard core types that will buy, but really TV box sets are expensive and not for the casual buyer - in any case, I think for many the current SD box set will suffice for their Star Trek TOS needs.

Hey if i was buying the STAR TREK tv series on DVD, I'd go with the PAL discs, and get the original SFX, then buy the BD and get the new SFX.

And by a strange coincidence from the Great Bird Of The Galaxy, as I started typing this, the Star Trek TMP/Next Generation theme started playing on the radio!

!

Default Star Trek TOS remastered on HD-DVD???

I found this article disturbing, I mean why is TOS being released on HD-DVD instead of Blu-Ray, I mean I thought Paramount was neutral, and would release it on both formats.

"When will it be available on DVD?
Winter 2007 for the first season (in the USA and Japan on HD DVD/DVD combo discs* only).

*HD DVD/DVD combo discs are a ‘flipper’ disc that has the new HD DVD format on one side and a standard DVD on the other. This allows standard DVD users to watch the standard definition version today, and when you upgrade to HD DVD equipment, watch the full 1080p HD resolution version on the flip side."

I mean I have both formats, but I prefer Blu-Ray

It is being released on Blu-Ray as well. It's just going to be a few months later.

cool, at least it will be on blu-ray, seems like they are doing the same thing on TOS that they did on the Matrix Trilogy

Post Star Trek on BD

I would like to see the original Star Trek movies 1-6 and the TNG movies on Blu-ray. Especially the TNG movies had some really awsome sequenced that would look great in Blu-ray. For people like me that have no lives, producing these in blu-ray woud further but another nail in HDDVD's proverbial coffin. Just a thought

Star Trek is Paramount which would be on both formats.

I'd buy TNG if it came out on BD. I love that show.

The original series was recently remastered. It would look good too. I like all the movies with the exception of the first and fifth entries. The 4th, The Voyage Home, is no doubt the best of the bunch.

The original series is supposed to be released on both HD formats soon!

Which I suppose puts Paramount in the Neutral Zone *ba-dum tish!*

I think Star Trek 6 "The Undiscovered Country" was the best ST film out of the entire series.

Number 6 was indeed great, my second favorite. Plummer was excellent as General Chang. I recently got rid of my copy of Undiscovered Country in hopes of a freshly minted Blu Copy but have yet seen any news on it. I never did buy the 4th one. It was the price that turned me off.
