Good news...... my July 20th order with "You and Me" in it was approved for packaging today. So it appears to be back in stock for those of you that ordered after me and were also held up.

Some of us like the slipcovers. I don't always need them but I prefer having them with the slipcovers. Especially when the slipcover has different artwork from the inner sleeve art. The slipcovers make the releases seem that much classier with Kino Lorber. I also am impressed by the slipcover spine art (original title designs) instead of the simple white text without the slipcovers.

There's "I prefer slipcovers", and then there's "I just canceled my entire ten-film order because one of the films doesn't have a slipcover," at which point you're not even collecting movies you're collecting cardboard.

Because Amazon has become absolutely atrocious about making street date. Even its delayed estimated delivery dates end up being pushed back at the last second.

What you can do, is please send them a quick email, asking to delay the release and do a new 2K scan. You can copy & paste this message:

“Hello,

Can you please delay the American Ninja 1&2 BluRays, and can you please do a new 2K scan master for both of them?

Thank you”.

Other users, please do the same, I’m sure there is a few more weeks before the discs go into production, if they get enough emails, they may realise that it’s the right thing to do on all levels. Thank you.

So what? Why would a person on a collector's forum look down judgementally on what someone else collects? So someone enjoys collecting cardboard slipcovers or just cardboard (I've actually saved a couple of boxes with printing blu-rays arrived in). People collect salt shakers, barbed wire, beer cans, practically anything. I collect rocks. So what.

I come from book collecting, before there even was home media. Dust jackets (wraps) were and are extremely important to book collectors. I look at slipcovers in the same way, personally. Absence doesn't stop me from buying a film I want, but I do prefer them.

I just don't get why folks who don't care about them have to express value judgements on folks who do.

Maybe it is just my eyes, but the new 4K transfer looks quite soft and without much grain compared to the old 2K transfer. Was the old transfer artificially sharpened?

I have both of these releases sitting here unopened. I think I am gonna crack both and compare cuz it does look conflicting based on the caps

I could see it being possible something being lost on high frequency detail downscaling the new 4K master to 1080p.

The redundant ones that major studios make that have the same art as the sleeves and all that useless clutter on the back? Yeah, those are garbage but the ones Vinegar Syndrome does are unique and high quality. You'd be foolish to throw those out. Even if you don't need them, you're leaving money on the table if you toss 'em.

Yeah I am not one who will pay 4x the MSRP of the standard release for a slipcover, but there are a lot of people who will. So by tossing them you are potentially throwing away a lot of the value of the physical item, if you ever decide to sell it.
