Movies from my list that didn't make the cut: Final Destination, Interview With The Vampire, Cabin Fever, Child's Play, The Sixth Sense, The Lost Boys. All of those for sure deserved to be on the list, imo.

I just think (IMHO) The Exorcist is the king of all Modern horror. I think I had Alien and the Shining as my 2 and 3. Santa Sangre should have made the list....Shiver and Them are great too. The U.S has not made a good horror film in over twenty years (IMO) other than a few scary scenes in the Exorcism of Emily Rose. Right now foreign horror is far better.

I don’t care much for “Shaun of the Dead,” “Blair Witch Project,” “Scream,” or “Friday the 13th,” and I haven’t seen “An American Werewolf in London” or “Night of the Living Dead” yet. But everything else is awesome!

I have some mixed feelings about "28 Days Later," even to this day, but it is interesting.

It’s interesting to see “The Ring” up there. I prefer it over the original “Ringu;” I feel it has a better, more interesting mystery story, with stronger visuals.

“The Thing” sure scared the crud out of me. I always felt that “The Shining” was poignant and disturbing (hence it was #1 on my list).

"Texas Chainsaw Massacre" sure was creepy and unsettling. (and I love the second one, when they're duelling with the chainsaws!)

"Jaws," "Nightmare on Elm Street," and "Dawn of the Dead" are alright. I like "Hellraiser," "The Orphanage," "Let the Right One In," "Saw," "The Omen," the "Evil Dead" movies (did the third one count as horror?), "Poltergeist," and "The Descent." I love "Event Horizon," "The Mist," "Alien," “Psycho,” and “Silence of the Lambs."

It’s kinda weird to see the #2 greatest movie of all time “Jaws” at #7.

I never used to care for “Halloween,” but it’s growing on me.

Looks like Elvis was right about “The Exorcist.” It really did make me feel dread when I first saw it.

It’s an awesome list anyway. Good job!

Thomas Jane's acting in the last scene was just brilliant. Thought he was a great Punisher and he deserves more roles. Oh and the ending was a tad bit realistic and unexpecting.
I agree fully. Stephen King’s original story
[Show spoiler]had no resolution to speak of; they just rode off into the mist and that was the end.
I don’t think it would have worked in a movie. But the ending they use is so bitter, dramatic, and invoking. I love it.

Two on the list I have yet to see, will soon.

Let the Right One In
The Orphanage

Great top 10. I love, LOVE, all those movies. 4 of my top 10 made it.
1. Exorcist (1)
2. Halloween (3)
3. Alien (--)
4. The Shining (2)
5. The Thing (--)
6. A Nightmare on Elm Street (11)
7. Jaws (--)
8. The Silence of the Lambs (9)
9. Psycho (20)
10.Dawn of the Dead (18)

I love Alien, The Thing, and Jaws, but didn't include them on my list, for reason discussed on the other thread. But can totally get behind them as deserving a spot on the top 10 Romulus Horror Movie List.

Romulus

Thanks again. This was fun. Waiting for the Thanksgiving list, patiently.

Maybe not but Christmas is around the corner.

Come to think of it, I am a little surprised that "Creepshow" and "The Re-Animator" didn't make it. Oh well.

Have a feeling Trick 'r Treat would have made the list if people had seen it sooner.

Anyways, glad to see Nightmare on Elm Street so high on the list. Looks like I'll need to check out Event Horizon.

Thanks Romulus; YOU are the MAN!!! Enjoyed the results and there are some movies which I haven't seen like the "Orphanage" which I will have to add to my collection. Glad to see that my favorite movie - "Alien" was voted #3! Who says that HORROR can't take place in "SPACE;" those who think otherwise are wrong IMHO! Hope to see a SCIFI poll soon; should be interesting.

I love Alien, I have a poster (print) I need framed. It is just the center of the movie poster. Can't find a replica of the origianl release, except in Italian, with the credits at the bottom.

Already have Star Wars and Raiders of the Lost Ark up on the wall, still need to frame E.T. and Goodfellas. Need a copy of Blade Runner too.

Very disappointed to see that none of the original horror movies made it--Dracula, Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, and Nosferatu.

Great job on the threads Romulus!

Well 12 of my choices are in there: Alien, The Exorcist, The Shining, The Thing, Hellraiser, Event Horizon, Evil Dead 2, Poltergeist, The Descent, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Dawn of the Dead and Halloween.

I didnt look over other peoples votes too much but am surprised that a few made it on the list and a few that didnt.

Never liked The Mist the first time I watched it, but I might have to give it another try.

Was very surprised that Dead Alive didn't get any love. And it doesnt look like Misery got any votes other than mine.

And there is not one Argento movie on there!

Movies on list that didn't make it: Army of Darkness, Dead Alive, The Hills Have Eyes (2006), Interview with the Vampire, The Devils Rejects, Re Animator (1985) , From Beyond, High Tension, In the Mouth of Madness, Stir of Echoes, Misery, Cube, Suspiria, The Fly (1986), Return of the Living Dead, Creepshow, Basket Case, Frailty, and Audition.

That's sad. No rec. No Martyrs.

I feel it's because not many people have seen them.

Thanks Romulus!

Decent list overall. The Shining should have been #1. I was very happy to see The Orphanage, The Ring, and BLair Witch make the list, so that made up for it.

Oooooh, Re-Animator, I haven't watched that in a long time. I am going to have to find my DVD, which probably isn't anamorphic. I don't know because I haven't seen it in a looooooooooooooooooooong time.

Wow!!! It always amazes me how different people see things. I respect them, but I always seem to think people will be somewhat similar. The Exorcist scared me more than anything in my life. I actually don't want to ever see it again. Funny thing is, scaring me is damn near impossible.

Personally, I thought the documentary about the Blair Witch on the Sci-Fi channel, that was shown before the movie got a wide release, was scarier. The movie was just tedious and boring.

I found neither Exorcist or Blair Witch, frightening. I love the Exorcist, and Blair Witch was a fun horror film (Especially since a couple of my friends thought it was real when we saw it in the theatre and I got to just build on their fear, so much fun). In the end most horror has not scared me since I was 13, but that does not mean I cannot respect the films. I am excited when a good new horror film comes out, but alas today they are few and far between.
