How about stopping the asshats who keep buying 12MPG SUVs and pickup trucks (even though they haul NOTHING, nor go offroad).

Go to any suburb and you'll see these useless behemoths everywhere, blocking the view of those of us who drive sensible cars that have plenty of trunk space and can seat 4 comfortably, which need a fillup of about 12 gallons every 1 1/2 to 2 weeks.

While I smile at the $120 fillup of the Tahoe/Yukon/Titan owner it's annoying that they're affecting MY pocketbook at the same time. On average cars are LESS efficient than ones in the late 1970's because of these idiots.

I get 14-15 MPG in my Jeep, but I DO go off-roading, and even if I don't, that's my business..... my money.... GET OVER IT.

I still buy "Plus" so it's a good bit of change to fill up, but I gotta drive ya know

Gas? Really who uses gas? My Mr. Fusion equipped Honda gets 400 miles on a single wastebucket full of household waste!

If only we could drill in Alaska. Then we could take over Canada and turn it into one giant oil field. Also we should drop all E-85 research, development, production, and sales.

One funny thing was I watched the original Die Hard movie the other night, and they showed a gas station in it, and gas was only 74 cents a gallon. I'm assuming this was an accurate representation of gas prices at that time (1988). So in 20 years, gas has gone up $3 a gallon, how insane is that? This sh*t cannot continue unless we want to become a third-world country.

First off.... Not sure where you equate high-gas prices with third world country.... Europe is "third world" ?? We're a LONG ways away from their prices here.

When I started driving when I was 16 (I'm 29.5 now ) Gas was about $0.95 or so.... give or take. I thought gas was expensive then.... and I think it's expensive now..... nobody LIKES to pay for something they litterally burn up (save the dope/cigarette comments )

Higher gas prices are good.... they slow down consumption (not mine, but others)

well, if gas rises in the next few years to 7$ a gallon range like some suggest, how will our economy function? people won't be able to work. we don't have nearly the public transportation system that Europe does. there are a few big cities that do but the majority of americans rely on cars to get to work and have no other options. Unless there are major changes, I have to think that $7 gas would all but cripple our economy.

Better start building that transport system now I guess...

They're at $8 a LITER...... last I checked... probably more now..... I don't think Rome was built in a day, and I doubt it will fall in a day either.....

Well.... Maybe the building of numerous large-scale public transportation systems will stimulate the economy..... sorta a catch-22 don't you think. We haven't hit "high" gas prices yet.... so we'll see what happens when that occurs....

I don't have a hybrid. Besides, I've seen far higher smug levels from SUV drivers trying to convince others that higher rates isn't their fault.

How about renting a vehicle to go offroading, rather than rationalize your selfishness. You'd actually save some and keep OUR prices from skyrocketing further.

I hope you two realize you really aren't going to change the other's mind or make the other feel any different.
