Then I say kudos to you, and I do mean that. I have a BB employee here where I am as well who knows what is up so I am glad to see that. now educate the rest of your employees. I know not all are uneducated but you have to admit alot are, I meant no disrespect to those that know.

This is very depressing news to hear, ON the day of my delivery of my NEW Pioneer Kuro 5020FD. Now I must say I know that the Warranty should still be applied for about a year with the Manufacturer. I also ended up getting the extended plan from Futureshop (4 years) but my question is, what if something happens after those 4 years, and I need parts to repair something and there is no department @ Pioneer for these issues? I was so excited for this day, Joining the Kuro Family, and now I hear this? that the "Family" is gone.....I dont know what to think, I got 30-days to make up my mind, I guess I could switch to another Manufacturer, but I still stand by that the Pioneer is one of the greatest pictures out there. Should I be worried at all with this news, if I have just purchased the Pioneer, obviously supply demand is going to be hot on these, and its gonna be harder to find them out there.....Allot of people would kill to get there hands on a Kuro, and mine is coming today.....

You should be just fine. If it's something that bothers you that much, like you said you have 30 days. The more you watch it, the harder it will be to replace it with something inferior.

How depressing. If the major TV companies have respect for progression of plasma TVs, they'd help Pioneer out. But with this economy, that's not gonna happen. I was so geared up for the 10G sets, saving up for it and everything. =/ Just hope that after I finish school, there'll be a set that will have better blacks (that much is inevitable) while also looking good at the same time. Panasonic, while very good in technology, does not have the same level of aesthetic superiority as Pioneer.

I'm glad I got 1 when I did Hopefully, this will only be temporary? I know it's not likely but one can still hope.

How right you are. I've been toying with the idea in my head of sending my 5020 back after hearing about Pioneer ending TV production because when it comes to big ticket items, I'm a total fraidy cat but the more and more I watch it, I just know if I returned it and got an LCD, I would be kicking myself for a long, long time. The picture is just insanely good. If I could see the 52XBR6 side by side with it, I'd probably never give it (the Sony) another thought.

Here's to hoping I can really trust my salesman to let me know when stock is dangerously low. I convinced myself to buy a 9G Kuro because they were going to be the last all-Pioneer Kuros, but now the thought that they may be the last Kuros period makes it an even better decision!

Now, on to hoping I can nab a Pro-111 for 2500 CAD from an independent retailer...wishful thinking?

What's the ratio = dynamic contrast

ANSI contrast will probably show those sets to be closer to 1,800:1, a far cry from what the Kuro's are seeing (almost 15,000:1)
Are you getting ANSI contrast and FULL ON/OFF contrast mixed up?

from ultimate AV mag Kuro review

"i measured an ANSI contrast ratio, using the standard 16 square checkerboard, of 2,600:1. That's not a misprint with an added zero. Amazingly, the black squares on the ANSI pattern ranged from 0.006 to 0.009fL—nearly the same as the full-field black. While you'll never see an ANSI contrast this good in a real room even with the lights off, it's still the most impressive ANSI contrast measurement I've yet measured on a display personally"

I just got the 500A Kuro (UK Model), what a picture!!

I would loved to have bought a Kuro, but at the time I was looking I couldn't afford the price. I love my Samsung LCD, but would gladly have chosen the Kuro over it if the price had been anywhere close.
