I know right, I was already planning on getting one at the beginning of this year but then this rumor started and now I'm feel like I need to rush and get one.

well this sucks, I had planned on upgrading my 50" sammy to a 6020 in the future. I guess it will have to be much sooner than i planned.
I guess if they drop the price on them I will have to buy one. Another idea would be to wait till BB puts them on sale again and do the 3 years no interest. Worst case if the numbers get low in our inventory system I will just have to pick one up at employee price. |

I have read almost every thread on this here and else where. Pioneer is only closing there PDP line, nothing else, so I would bet they will still honnor warranties. You have both Samsung and Panny, whose new line looks ok but rumor has it not better than a 9G Pio but better than last years TV's (thank you poor economy). Samsung is not going any where, according to what I have read else where they are the "800lb Gorilla" capable of pushing everyone else around, so I have read, and they are very aggressive. If Pio is really out I bet they sell there tech to either Panny (hopefully) or Samsung but Sharp has a vested intrest in Pio as well as Sharp makes the LCD KURO's for Pio ( only sold in Europe I think) and may not want to let things go either. I would almost bet that depending on how much money Pio needs to get themselves out of hot water and whoever has the most money (probably Samsung) will buy the tech rites to KURO plasma screens. I seriously hope Panny as they seem to push the plasma more than Samsung does. Samsung adapted to a market choice by the masses being fooled into thinking LCD's are a better TV ( thank you uneducated BB and CC employees at the big box stores, way to read actual facts).
So that is my two cents, maybe a little hope and prayer and one of the big guys Panny or Sammy will bail them out and we will see the new 10G Pio, one can always hope, I am sure we will know more Thursday or Friday when Pio is to announce what the heck is really going on. |

In the mean time I am getting me a 5020...yeahhhhh...thank you tax return. Maybe a 6020 if they get low enough. |

Take 100% black signal, measure. Take 100% white signal, measure. What's the ratio = dynamic contrast ANSI contrast will probably show those sets to be closer to 1,800:1, a far cry from what the Kuro's are seeing (almost 15,000:1) Last edited by dobyblue; 02-09-2009 at 04:58 PM. |

Actually it's realistic.
Are you familiar with ANSI? The Kuro's almost hit 15,000:1 and that's the best on the market. What is dumb is putting any faith in dynamic contrast figures. Last edited by dobyblue; 02-09-2009 at 04:57 PM. |

This is obviously sad news for the Blu-ray owners that wanted the absolute best looking visual quality in their displays. The other plasma manufacturers had been playing catch-up with Pioneer the last several years and Pioneer could not turn it into a profitable business. I hope Panasonic buys out the patents and knowledge that Pioneer has accumulated on plasma technology.
