I did read somewhere that the German BD of Dune (2000) is missing around 3 mins worth of footage. Not sure what exactly.

There are 3 versions of Dune (2000) in total
US version (edited for sex and violence)
International version (restores the sex and violence)
Directors Cut (US release that restores the sex and violence and additional footage)

I'm not sure which version of the mini-series has appeared on Blu-Ray though. I have the Australian BD release but not watched it yet

You are correct on the different cuts. I discovered the difference when I bought the two VHS director's cut and it left Chani's boobs intact as they were cut off the US broadcast.

Personally, after watching Spicediver's Redux version of Dune, I'll never go back to watching the theatrical or TV cuts again. If we could only get a good quality upscale 1080p version of the Redux version, that would be the ultimate cut of Dune, imho.

PS - yes, I know it's only 480p but the editing, redone special effects and the way the story of Dune becomes so much more clear and concise is a huge improvement to the other, official cuts.

The Spicediver edit is fantastic and is my favourite version of the movie.

A few months ago I finally got to see Jodorowsky's Dune which is a fantastic documentary about his unfilmed adaptation of the novel. If he had gotten to make his version (especially in this day and age) can you imagine how much hell he would get from the internet for it. Would have been interesting to know what Herbert thought of his plans.

Yeah, that's the one you want for sure. The only thing it's missing is English subs.

It's a shame they didn't bother to fix the glitch for subsequent printing runs if not a full recall. It's quick but it's still a ridiculous error that should not have happened.

I couldn't watch a 480p fanedit of this film regardless of how good the editing is supposed to be, knowing how much better it looks on blu-ray.

I gotta give another shout out to the Spicediver cut. Ive been obsessed with Lynch's Dune most of my life, bought various VHS, DVD and Blu Ray and Spicedivers Cut is my prefered version. And for 480p it looks damn good!

Isn't the glitch only on the extended cut though? I am asking because the theatrical cut has better PQ than the US disc anyway.

Yep. Sorry, I should have mentioned that!

And anyone reading, please don't even think about buying the UK cut - its AWFUL and worse than the old US one! Trust me - I compared them side by side years ago! (the slipcover was nice though - I kept that

)
