Got my copy of Phenomena (and Vamp) yesterday. Just had to turn the cover around to the UK vhs "Creepers" artwork.

Hmmm. Watched this tonight - best version **to date,** it'll do for now. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this as a current upgrade to any serious Argento fan, despite the occasional sound drop out and sometimes other sonic weirdness. But once again, Arrow have depressingly gone totally overboard with their noise reduction technology, probably most easily demonstrated by Pleasance's mid 60's face looking like it has undergone an extremely successful facelift in the majority of his shots. VERY unfortunate. A recommended upgrade but any possible world beater or world best PQ status is thoroughly killed off by excessive dnr. Having said that, the US rights are currently held by Anchor Bay who are equally likely to get carried away in that regard. And it certainly looks better than previous dvd versions.

PS Arrow, PLEASE stop using such heavy dnr. Most appropriate (noticed) review to date:

Well the reviewer seems to think the other Arrow Argento releases are better...

I really enjoyed my BD of Phenomena. What little DNR on the disc is mild to the point of being non intrusive. Grain is on offer throughout, especially the heavily grained sequence at the waterfall. Blacks are deep and shadow detail is good and never actually suffers at the hands of those aforementioned blacks. The countryside sequences look superb on this 1080p offering and overall PQ is very pleasing.

On the AQ front, the 2.0 PCM track is both punchy and powerful and presents this most varied and intriguing score very well, indeed.
Definitely a worthwhile addition to anyone's Hi Def collection.
