maybe the horse was carrying the universal or paramount blu-ray announcement and it died. That guy hitting it is symbolic of the members of this board? Now how do you see it?

The Passion thread devolved into a bashathon, and it was locked and people warned. I let it go initially because it was about the movie only

The same went for the thread asking about the policy, then Merrick tossed in a hand grenade (and no, I didn't even warn him for it, I didn't think it was constructive at the time) to start a debate over consitutional church and state law, simultanously violating both rules

The ban on discussion of religion and politics is a very clear, unambiguous one sentence:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/faq.php?fa...forumrulesfull

Quote:
Please do not discuss religion or politics.
If and when Ice and/or Marwin see fit to change that, then I'll enforce whatever alterations they make with equal vigor.

If you feel I'm playing favorites with someone, please list an example for me. If you have a question or a concern, hit that PM button and I always answer.

Quote:
So discussing religion is bad yet I don't know how many times I've seen people on here make comments equating HD-DVD with homosexuality. "How gay" and that's supposed to be an insult...is that allowed on here?
No, and if I see it, it gets whacked. I'm not omnipotent, and evne though my computer is usually logged into the forum I'm not always sitting here. Hit the "report post" button.

If people are always afraid of getting banned, they shouldn't be. The only people who get banned are the trolls, the spammers, and the habitual repeat offenders who don't stop after many warnings and infractions

So again, if you feel I'm unfair, have a concern, or whatever else, feel free to PM me. I don't bite

I just want someone to reply to me on my comment about There Will Be Blood. Any of you guys seen it? Looks like Daniel may own his performance in Gangs of New York.

Nice post Wicky. See now was that showing anger and favortism? NO! He just plainly said that you could voice your concerns to him. Some people judge too quickly.

I am really, really looking forward to seeing this flick! Everywhere I read, it is supposed to be an amazing movie! Hopefully I can squeeze this in this weekend. It will certainly take a lot to top his performance in GoNY.

as for the topic....ya religion is way off the beaten path when it comes to Blu-ray discussions. Kingdom of heaven is the only BR religious themed movie I've seen and it isnt even worth bringing up LOL

Boston Red Sox's are the best baseball team around. They are my favorite and will always be my favorite. As for football the Patriots are cheating *****s that did not get punished enough at the beginning of the season. I want to see them owned at the Super Bowl, but I wanted Brett to be the one to do it.

no one was talking to you because that would mean that we were talking sports to a red sox fan...........................that's not allowed here.

Reason: because Red sox fans, treat baseball as religion, and Ted Williams as god

AND WE ALL KNOW BABE RUTH IS GOD!!!

Some may, but not me. Baseball is definitely not my favorite sport. That Ted Williams thing, doesn't apply to me either. Babe Ruth was a big man that had a lot of power, because of it. I will say that he was one of the greatest though, unlike all the steroid pumpers. That was natural strength.

War unites different people under the same flag, so before the Warner's announcement there was much more unity in the blu ranks. DVD vs Blu war did not really start yet to fill the void and some members are starting to notice how different and out of place they actually are. Hence the recent tension...

Personally, I still trying to understand which way this forum is headed. Is it going to become another gamers' forum?? Often it feels that way... I see less and less posts from technically knowledgeable people; I see less and less intelligent movie and hardware discussion threads; I see more and more "Expert Members" and "Blu-Ray Guru's" that achieved their status by posting smilies, one word sentences, and vulgar rant.

Sports, games, and personal opinions can often generate as heated and difficult discussions as politics or religion. The problem is that the latter two can have legal repercussions and are extremely hard to moderate without taking a side.

On the other hand, big part of the good films have religious or political plot foundation... so should we discuss "Good Luck Chuck" and the likes only? I don't know, it is really hard to say where to stop sometimes and all the mod's deserve utter respect for the hard and stressful job they are doing. Just like religion and politics, many other subjects are not black and white - and the mod's have to discern this fine line in between the shades of gray.

I can only wish this forum will be all about Blu-Ray movies and hardware; the progress of HDM and High Def in general. Time will tell.

I do agree that it was closed unfairly ONLY UNDER THE CONDITION THAT THERE WAS NOTHING EVER STATED ABOUT THESE MATTERS. But in the rules it clearly states no religious or political discussion. So that should end any inquiries right there.

I think that everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I think that also everyone needs to "respect" the guidelines set by the mods who are here to keep a eye on things.

As some have said, it you don't like it, leave. It is a simple choice to make. Also, someone mentioned that we enter at our own risk. We cannot know for certain everyone's motives in coming into a discussion, but for the most part I think everyone has good intentions, but beliefs and feelings can get the best of some. Hence the mods set the rules, remind of the rules and if someone steps over the line, they should be told.

+ 1 big one. The black bars cut off the picture! Idiots. Those guys sure is ignerent. I want my full frame Star Wars with all of the picture included or not at all. Just like my first VHS copy had. I tried to put my SW VHS copy in the blu players, but something is wrong. Doesn't fit. Maybe I need to update the firmwere or somthin. I thought the BD player could upscale my VHS copies? What gives?

I think all my VHS tapes are broken.

If you shake them you rear things kinda rattle around inside.

And the last time I tried to play one, it started at the end credits. Plus I couldnt the menu screen to pop up.

Hey guys!

I've been busy working on the new players section and didn't notice this until now, when someone brought it to my attention.

We've had the "no religion and politics discussions" rules for years, simply to avoid heated feelings, trouble and drama and it has worked fine so far. However, I see the problem with this rule as it makes it impossible to discuss movies that are mainly about religion and/or politics. We are ready to give it a try and allow discussions about religion and politics ONLY if they are related to a specific movie and that you stay on topic.

This is the new forum rule:
Quote:
You are only allowed to discuss religion and politics when it is the main topic of a specific movie. Keep in mind that all people are different and have different beliefs, so be respectful to each other. Stay on topic and make sure what you say is directly related to the movie.

I personally don't like to discuss either, but I agree when it's the topic of a movie we might encounter it. Thanx for attempting something new, I hope it works. I notice even threads about something as trivial as "XBOX vs PS3" get out of hand quite easily but I hope this works out.
