-Good thing other successful sequels like Aliens did not reconstitute various plot beats from the original Alien film.... Oh wait!
Those were my assumptions as well. Hoping I'm wrong...

A lot of interesting facts in this doc including how "I am your father" developed.

Also many people did work that was uncredited.

George also does not come off looking great toward his ex-wife but sometimes that's the way it rolls in a divorce.

But this documentary points out the significant contributions of Marica Lucas and several other players in the Original Trilogy.

There is also a Star Trek doc made by the same company that is also really good.
OK, thanks. I'll have to see if this was the doc I watched already. I'll check it out this weekend.

But, if you're confused by 'propaganda', then substitute it with agenda or narrative.

Imagine thinking a sarcastic reiteration of the worst possible interpretation of your shitty opinion is a good summation.

Rey is like a drug test but for crappy opinions. If someone never complained Anakin was instantly good at everything, but complains Rey is good at everything, then you get a positive result.

I am sure Rey hated sand just as much as Anakin.

LoL how could anyone justify the outrageously stupid over-hyped and unrealistic abilities of Anakin, especially in Phantom Menace? Are you saying that people don't like Rey just because she's a girl, and so it can't apply to Anakin? Wow. I guess I've been check-mated on that one.

I’m not so sure about that one considering she never killed any Sand people.

Would love to know the common consensus with the 4ks on here. Especially since I know of plenty of issues and that with them being on bd-66 the bitrates love to dip down to low teens and whatnot. But yeah would love to hear and know more what are some thoughts in the Disney transfers. Overall I dig the color grade change from the blurays which leaned a bit too saturated. But theybare certainly too dark for the most part.

But again would love to hear what are some thoughts people have even if it's in comparison to older offical releases and I know full well and love the fans stuff. But more so interested in lead bussed opinions on these as intend to see that overall these look great to these are awful cuz they are mainly SE releases and so on.

I can only speak for the prequels as I strongly dislike the sequels and prefer the theatrical editions for OT. (I probably would buy the Disney special editions if they were reference quality video but alas they are not from what I hear)

The prequels are far from perfect on 4K but the sound is amazing, the HDR is a noticeable improvement (the lightsabers pop like they should), and there's a clear progression in quality among the movies where you can see the improvements to both digital camera technology and visual effects. These are definitely the best they've ever looked but if you're not a huge fan and/or you are happy with previous release then there's not a strong reason to upgrade.

Any noticeable gains over the included remastered blurays? I've seen some people mentioned aliasing being an issue but I've never noticed it before on my 65" but I've also never been looking for it either. And yeah deifntnore interested in the quality on the Lucas films. But not against hearing about the others either. Appreciate your thoughts and defintisly welcome others as well. Derifntiely think these are improvements over the last blurays for sure. Most notably the OT as these are sharper from what I've seen personally and on caps-a-holic.

I love 'em. The Sequel Trilogy 4K discs are huge improvements over their Blu-ray counterparts; Rise of Skywalker, in particular, preserves the fine film grain MUCH better in its 4K incarnation. The Lucas flicks are a mixed bag, of course... but they're THE epitome of "maddeningly flawed releases that are still the best these movies have ever looked on home video" (in my opinion).

For what it's worth, my wife was recently BLOWN AWAY by how good Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi looked compared to how she's seen 'em on Blu-ray for the last however-many years -- and she's NOT one to comment on picture quality! I usually have to twist her arm after playing something like the 4K disc of Alien: "did you notice how much better it looked than you've ever seen it before??" But with Empire and Jedi -- oblivious to their myriad flaws -- she declared, unprompted: "that looked WAY better than I remember it!"

Haven't done a side by side comparison but looking at caps-a-holic it seems as though the remastered Blurays have an altered, somewhat brighter color grade that brings them in line with the 4K versions. But there's the obvious lack of HDR and Dolby Atmos audio track. I'd imagine aliasing is also much less of a problem with the higher resolution and bitrate encode on the 4K, and it helps what detail is there in the DI to shine through.

Myself I love what HDR does to the starfields. BLACK space with punchy white dots. Makes the space shots a bit more dimensional.

I've noticed you've been focused on bitrates lately as the end-all/be-all, but there are no compression issues on the UHD BDs. I bet if you were not watching bitrates, you would be very happy with the compression on these. It's not just raw bits used, but how they are used. There are a ton of titles out there with lower bit rates with superior compression versus higher bit rates. The only issues with the original trilogy is the DNR and there is some small edge enhancement especially on Empire. A New Hope looks quite good. However, the color, shadows, range, and detail are quite good on all three and far exceed anything seen before on the other formats. As far as the prequels, they are what they are. The Phantom Menace was heavily DNR'd since the 2011 BD. Attack of the Clones is softer due to the digital filming infancy. 'Sith looks quite good though. The sequels (ep 7-9) are rather good in that they are the most transparent to their source (untouched with DNR).

This is so friggin' true. For all the questionable nonsense that "should've been better" on these releases, any shots with starfields are PHENOMENAL. Vader's Star Destroyer fleet in Empire looks jaw-droppingly magnificent, both during its "Imperial March" introduction and in all the glorious approaching-Hoth moments. That shot of the Executor approaching Hoth flanked by Star Destroyers and a coupl'a TIE Fighters may be the most beautiful sci-fi image ever committed to film. And the same can be said for the asteroid chase and the whole end space battle of Jedi. Really spectacular upgrade for all that material.

The physical special effects were truly beyond cutting edge. I watched these lately and the end space battle in Jedi was truly mind-blowing still. The one shot from a first person-like view with all of those tie-fighters coming at you with full speed for the first time was amazing. The progression of effects from New Hope -> Empire -> Jedi really shows.

When I saw ROTJ in the theater a few months ago, the ending celebration scenes of the different planets seemed a little smeary. Was that just from the projection? Is it clearer on the 4k disc?
