not only that, but, the viewer that will watch the Olympics will also be annoyed, it might not be as bad for a sitcom like BB where every episode is more or less independent and you don't miss much but imagine a show where each episode advances the story and now you don't know what happened for two weeks nd now he is lost so he gives up on the show until he catches up.

Once upon a time, television seasons used to consist of at least 30 episodes. Nowadays we lose some of the time (that could be used to air new episodes) to meaningless crap like sports or award ceremonies.
This statement idk wow really, Why the hell would NBC Pay BILLIONS of dollars for exclusive rights to broadcast the Olympics on Youtube? Are you that dense? Its standard every damn year man for the past 34 years of my life Sept - Thanksgiving shows premier, Maybe 1-2 new shows before Christmas, Couple of new ones in January, then Nothing during award Season really, Shows return in march and close the season out in a nice 8 week fashion.

What are you going to do next year when BBT gets delayed because CBS won bidding on the first 8 weeks of Football to air Thursday nights at 8pm? There is no guarantee they move this show to Mondays at all. So chances are this show is going to be hella spread out next year. Well have Shows starting in November.

I had read that when football comes around, the sitcom would be moved to another night temporarily, not delayed.

I had no idea that NBC had exclusive rights to Olympics. Still, when fans of a sitcom have to go 2-3 weeks without a new episode during the season, with sports being partly the reason why, it can get aggravating. CBS don't need sports for ratings, they have some of the best shows on a non-cable network -- period. NBC don't need sports, they just need better shows. Most people in the world nowadays have cable TV, what's wrong with putting all sports (even the Olympics) on ESPN, where it's supposed to be "all sports, all the time"? Why can't NBC just do live broadcasts of jock competitions on YouTube? It's certainly possible... U2 had a live broadcast at the Rose Bowl on YouTube during their 360 Tour... First of its kind, millions of hits. There's even news articles if one can't be bothered to watch. Is it REALLY necessary to interrupt the flow of a television season for some silly jock competition on who is better? Who really cares who is better?

Because you are aware how companies make money back, Olympic Primetime advertisement will by far outweigh the money BBT would bring in on a given day. These companies are also in competition for advertisement dollars, you really think NBC is upset that you dont get to see BBT? Hello no they know you will tune into the Olympics at some point so its money earned for them.

I didn't tune into the Olympics. Some people just don't care for jock competitions. So, NBC earned less money than they thought they would make. And even though this is discussed on TBBT thread, it could be applied to shows on NBC as well.

Do you watch TV every year? Because these breaks are really nothing new, so I'd think you'd be used to them.

You know when you can do what those "dumb jocks" can do then by all means please give an opinion. Honestly I doubt anyone on this forum can do what those guys can do, its about something you will never understand representing ones country in what is supposed to be athleticism in its purest form is the 2nd greatest honor one could have. The first Obviously being serving in the military. You don't like competition that's fine but don't sit here and act ignorant over it because 99% of the people on this forum will see it for exactly what it is.

I DO watch TV every year, and summer break is when I find reruns excusable. I don't condone reruns just about every week during the TV season from September to May/June.

EDIT: I may be used to it, but it doesn't mean that I don't hate it.

Well I don't like it either, but I'm not getting all bent out of shape about it because that's just how networks do things.

To be honest... it seems to me like there are LESS breaks than there used to be.

Back when all we had were the 3 OTA networks, there were long breaks with nothing to watch.

Now with 1000 cable and satellite channels... and staggered start/stop times for shows... it seems like there are less breaks overall if you watch a lot of shows because they aren't all on hiatus the same amount of time.

Yup, and I'm at my son's baseball game now and probably won't be back till 9:30 pm (PT). So it'll be even later for me. Thank goodness for DVRs.

Tonight was a really short episode, only 19:21 without the end credits and if you exclude the transition scenes and the opening credits, its in the 18 minute range

That is disappointing. I really hate it when an episode runs for under 20 minutes. They keep getting shorter and shorter. The only upside to shorter episodes is that they don't have to cut anything for syndication. But I'd much rather have edited-for-syndication episodes if it means getting longer episodes during the original airings.
