This movie is a classic and the 3-D puts you IN the story. I can't recommend this movie enough!

I hope they release it in 2.35:1 in 2D. They would be foolish to not release it in 2D. To just release it on 3D and hardly have anybody that owns a 3D TV/projector would be foolish.

They will be smart about it, it is all about the money!

3D makes this film...without it its just a average film at best.

Whatever, I know your opinion from the other threads, either way it will still be a good film on Blu! I will buy both but I do not want to wait for the 3D version to come out when the technology is just on the brink of coming out!

While I haven't seen this in 2D yet to comment on how much of a difference it makes visually, I have to respectively disagree. I loved the story as much as I did the visuals, but I don't care to really argue about it. I will just agree to disagree with you and move on since this is just about the Blu-Ray.

Either way, no worries, as they are releasing the 2D version on Blu-Ray first.

No problem. It's not an official announcement of course, but I got the info from the article reported on here a week ago. It still gives you a pretty good idea of how it should all end up...

Again, no problem.

There is no doubt in my mind that they will release a 2D version since so many people won't have a 3D capable TV. A lot of people are just getting around to getting an HDTV. Expecting a lot of people to get a 3D just after they got themselves a regular HDTV isn't logical. While I wouldn't mind getting a new TV in a year or two, I know I can't afford to upgrade to a new 3D TV yet. I wouldn't worry.

I know. I was just trying to make a point not to worry about whether a 2D version will be released or not. I added that after you quoted me.

I saw this in the cinemas in normal 3D and it was pretty cool.

The effects and the world were awesome and the story was pretty cool.

Cameron has said it will be out in 2D bluray next year and then end of the year they will re-release it on proper 3D Bluray that will use the 3D BU standard, so only those of us who have new 3D capable TVs will be able to enjoy it.

This is going to be the demo Blu-Ray for many moons when it eventually comes out. I hope they stick with the 3-D aspect ratio of 1.85:1 though.

I have heard the 3D HDTV phrase used lately, but I don't know what it is, any explanations?

Thanks retablo, that explains everything. I guess I will be SOL when it comes out in full swing, I'm not going to replace a $3300 3-year old tv & my new Blu-ray player is only 6 months old.

The plus side is that by the time you (and a lot of other people) are ready, the prices should have come down nicely.

I believe that aspect is for IMAX theaters. In my regular theater here the 3D version was shown in scope.

Just got home from seeing this at the cinema again and I can not WAIT to be able to watch it at home. I've seen in in 2D and 3D now and it is great in both formats (I think I actually enjoyed 2D slightly more.) Hope it gets an amazing blu release !
