well, most likely it has been said already, but Sony has made some milestones in the front projector market, notably the Ruby and the Pearl which offer(ed) great quality pq for affordable prices.

I have to say, kudos to that and well done Sony!

I´m not a fan of the rootkits though....

I wonder if it's to do with people resenting success and rooting for the underdog...until he becomes successful and then turn on him hehe.

Because not all of us are from liberal countries that just want to love everyone. And not all of us were brought up through a US school system the past 25 years that has emascilated most of the men with a liberal, female first system.

Believe it or not, since the first sign of life, another form of life has tried to override the others powers. Eventually hate was born.

I'd rather support an american company since im from there, but I've got no beef with sony and I love most of there products

I wonder this myself. There seems to be a large number of people who love to see Sony fail miserably. If you don't want to buy a PSP or PS3 noone is going to force you. But to pray for the downfall of an entire company seems silly. People act like Sony killed their puppy or something.

I honestly dont know why people hate sony. I think partially some if it that they expect alot from sony and so any slight disappointment is magnified in their eyes. Like honestly I dont ever expect anything GReat from toshiba or panasonic but i do of sony.

At my work tho people come in saying they'd rather not have sony. but they think its cus that sony really isnt good etc but i tend to convince em otherwise.

I don't hate Sony, I just don't like their (until recently) insistence on only supporting their own format (Memory stick, ATRAC, LRF format for the librie, etc). Recently they have been changing a lot, and now offer some of my all time favorite products (Sony Reader... my precious!). they're doing away with ATRAC, the reader supports PDF and RTF, (and SD card).

2 years ago I would have refused to buy any Sony product except at half price. Now I own one, and I am willing to buy others, if they can outdo the other products on the market for a good price.

I'm one of those consumers the CE companies hate. I have absolutely zero name brand loyalty. I'll read the reviews, and buy whatever gives the best value for money. Until recently, the product matching that description was never a Sony.

But I am not saying Sony is perfect, but for a company that has been around for so long, it is not surprising there have been a few hiccups on route.

Also I would like to add that VHS vs Betamax is so often giving as example but there is a big difference to the situation today. When video was introduced nobody really new how big it would be, what business models would work, etc. It was an revolution. Today with Blu vs HD DVD it is "just" an evolution of DVD.

Don't forget DVD also.
(Although Toshiba might see it differently)
Again, I don't hate them, and will continue to buy their products in the future, but I understand the feeling of others who might not.
