Now that Morbius moved I’m getting paranoid - but they won’t delay this with only 10 days to go before release right? Right???

Well, first, some of us work on weekdays, and don't have that as an option. Not going to get too deep into this - but I have several members of my immediate family who are going through cancer treatment and no, seeing a movie isn't worth the risk of bringing it home to them.

That said - surely you can see the difference between doing something essential like grocery shopping - and moving quickly through a store, not spending much time near anyone in particular - and a movie theater, where you sit in the same place for 2+ hours without moving, in a cement box. I mean, we have members of this forum who have said they got it going to see Spiderman. And I've read the same thing all over.

What I personally don't get is why those who want to go to the theater care if there was another option presented for those of us who don't or can't. Let Hollywood worry about grosses - if the bean counters didn't think it was worth it when they do dual releases, they wouldn't do them.

In this case, again - I think it's a bit late for them to do anything, but I certainly will be happy if they do. Especially because as of this afternoon, Ontario has announced theaters are going to be closing again there - and I'm sure they won't be the only ones as the week goes on. Unfortunately, the second week of January just in hindsight was a terrible time for this to release - cases always go up significantly after holidays, and then when you add in how much more transmissible this variant is - and people getting sick all over.

Never say never anymore. Wouldn't be surprised at a announcement tomorrow. They closed A Quiet Place Part II before a few weeks i think.

Ontario is closing theaters again.

I might go see this just to support it because they haven't delayed it. I'm so pissed off at Morbius for postponing until April.

But that’s also because all of the big theater chains were on the verge of shutting down completely. As of now, all major theater chains in the U.S. are staying open. I can’t imagine they will shut down again because we actually have a vaccine now whereas we didn’t before. Plus with No Way Home still making MASSIVE bucks (plus Sing is also doing well with families) I think they will choose to ride it out.

Scream should stay as they have virtually NO competition for a month or more. That could really benefit the movie. Plus Paramount has probably been the one studio that has delayed the least.

I didn’t say they weren’t delaying -I said they delayed the least compared to the other studios.

Because Paramount’s slate is nothing compared to others.

I'd imagine the advertising budget has already been spent, so unless the theaters are forced to close down again, they're probably keeping the date. Worst case, they might do same-day Paramount+.

They moved A Quiet Place 2 two days before release, so 10 days is possible.

Even SNL sent everyone home last week, I have a bad feeling we're about to go through another chain reaction of things closing or shutting down, especially with theaters or venues that can accommodate large amounts of people.

I have Paramount+, but I'd rather my Dolby Cinema tickets not be refunded.
New York City, Canada, and NBC can overreact all they want but it's too late to delay this film. You think the studio is going to waste millions of dollars on marketing this film to shut it down and do it all over again a couple months later? This film isn't going to Paramount + early either because theaters have contracts forbidding it from happening. Any state lockdowns or business closures are economic / financial suicide at this point. You will be able to see this movie in two weeks and Mass Formation Psychosis is very real. Enjoy!

I think it was a week and that was when they had no other choice. Clearly theaters were going to be closing at a mass level and they did before it hit that release date.

A move is possible, but kinda unlikely at this point as almost all American theaters are open and, for now, it appears there is no desire for theater shut downs (the biggest markets even have vaccine mandates, and very few vaccinated people are going to the hospital, though I could see a booster getting added to the vaccine mandates). I am interested in seeing what happens to Uncharted, if Sony keeps that in mid Feb, it suggests they only want to move their biggest potential films.

No NYC movie theaters are closed as far as I know. Even Broadway doesn’t have a mandate to close, the reason so many performances are canceled is the entire cast/crew is tested daily, and I understand if anyone tests positive, by union rules they have to cancel until the infections are isolated.

The new Mayor has said he believes shut downs are as dangerous as COVID at this point, I’m pretty sure he would do a booster mandate and/or reduced capacity before he shut anything down.

He may not shut things down but he could impose capacity restrictions but I highly doubt he would do that as he thinks the way to beat the pandemic is to “see ourselves as past the pandemic and not in it”.

Was refrencing SNL (New York City / NBC). It's absolutely hilarious NBC (Universal / Comcast) filmed their New Years Eve show in Miami three days ago instead of New York City like they always film in. And at this point the less the New York City Mayor gets involved with the citizens and businesses of New York City the better. He needs to be up the ass of the city council and DA's office 24/7 365 all day every day. I mean how many murders can you get away with until you are Scream 5 2022 or New York City / Chicago?

I believe that revealing that Mindy and Chad are Randy’s nice and nephew is just a distraction as if they are prime suspects. People won't assume that just because Jill was the killer in Scream 4 and was relative to Sidney doesn't mean that every time a relative is revealed they are going to be the killers.
