Default Bond....Quantum Of Solace

I just watched QoS for the third time on Blu last night with my in-laws. They were blown away by the picture and the sound(I had it cranked!). I almost forgot how nice the picture was on Blu....it IS reference material But what I wanted to get into was just how good this movie really is! I know it wasn't Casino Royale...and alot of people were dissappointed by QoS...but it was the FIRST true sequel. I know there have been alot of threads on this before but now that some time has passed, I suggest that everyone who is a Bond fan go back and watch this one again! It IS a great movie and it set itself up for a hell of third movie!!

thats why people hate it

i mean the story was good, there was a fair amount of action and i enjoyed watching it

but for 22 movies, there was barely any continuity between the movies, you didn't have to watch one to understand any others

then Quantum of Solace came along, i mean couldn't that have at least put the gunbarrel sequence at the beginning of the movie instead of at the end for crying out loud?!

I just watched it last night and really enjoyed it. I can understand why some didn't understand what was going on as it was basically just a continuation of Casino Royale. I feel the director should have done a little re-introduction piece at the beginning to help remind us of the story and to help the movie stand on its own. Having said all that, I really liked it and can't wait for the next one.

The film does get better after the first viewing. The movie moves so fast that you are trying to catch up the first time you see it and one can miss many plot points. The quick action edits also play better on a TV than on the big screen.

Mmm. I actually watched it again this weekend. When I first saw it in theaters I told myself "Wow this is a steaming pile of crap and Casino Royale WTFBBQ owns it so hard". Then after I finished watching it on Blu this weekend, I thought that it was A LOT better the second time around.

I mean no disrespect to the fans of this movie...but...I find it pretty sad that the rest of you have to see it several times in order to like it. Why are you forcing yourself? To fit in? Why can't you admit that it's tripe? I saw it once...it sucked...and it will stay that way. I don't need a second opinion.

I knew this thread would start going down this road. There was a big QoS thread already around here somewhere. Anyways, I have only seen it once so far and liked it. It's not tripe. That's just your opinion, which you are welcome to have of course.

I totally agree with you. Sure, it wasn't Casino Royale, but it was a good movie just the same. And watching them back to back makes the experience even better. I can't wait for the sequel to this one to see where Bond goes next!

That's like me asking someone who hated Fight Club the first time why they would want to see it again, and accusing them of wanting to fit in. I had watched it once, and hated it; what more was there to it? Then I was finally convinced to watch it again, and guess what; the whole movie made sense now. There are tons of movies that are produced like that.

After all, if a movie is great the first time you see it, but has little replay value, why in the world would you want to buy it?

This film is so misunderstood. I instantly saw it's greatness because I watched Royale before watching this at the cinema.

I saw only half of it in the theater (sound problems I wouldn't sit through) and I wasn't impressed. However, I finally got to watch the whole thing in one sitting last night and I really rather enjoyed it. Not as good as Casino Royale but still pretty darn entertaining. Excellent picture quality, but I always hate DTS sound (dialogue too low, action too loud).

I find it funny that you have to be inflexible in your decision and that you find it sad that people can change their minds. Some things just are an acquired taste, like this film. It's like sushi. A lot of people don't like sushi on first try, but on subsequent tries, it becomes likeable.

I, for one, didn't force myself to like it. I didn't like it on first view at the theaters, and I certainly did not think I would like it when watching it on BD. But I did appreciate it much more on BD. As for the reverse, I loved Moulin Rouge! when it released in 2001, thinking it a perfectly made movie, but I watched it again for the first time in a long time. The film is sloppy as hell (still love it). My point is that a second viewing can change one's view on something.

Anyway, love the audio on this film, especially how the music was recorded.
