My god... That's pretty much a weapon of mass destruction.

Big deal, Intel chips are no where near as versatile or frugal as AMD chips. I'd rather just buy a 6000x2 with 4 gigs of RAM instead of an overpriced Intel. The article just confirms it, in simulations it blows the AMD away but in real time it feels slower. 64 bit computing isn't near mainstream and I doubt even games or video will really benefit from it..

By that time..the FX chips should be around current X2 prices....spend $4000 for this intel system, just the mainboard and chip? Or spend $2000 on a fully loaded AMD system? It's not like the AMD system is a turtle. I think I know which one I pick.

Apple has offered an 8-core Mac Pro for several months.

Default If you think 8 cores is a lot, try 24 and 40 cores

Ok,

This is only getting press because its Intel. The company I work for is developing a 24 and 40 core processor. Check it out.

Sorry to self promote, but we get a little sick of others thinking they are the leaders in multi-core technology.

AMD fanboy much, it is well known that Intel reign supreme in the processor market at the moment because of the Conroe microarchitecture. AMD can't compete at the moment, and we will have to wait and see about the K-10 architecture, but they will only match Intel performance.

For P2P ratio, look at the E6600. It is awesome.

And of course, when you're talking about Xeon processors, you're talking about a different market, and different market development. Like the folks comparing SGI graphics to an ATI card, it's just silly .
