Default Issues playing standard DVDs on LG GGW-H20L

My LG GGW-H20L is having problems playing standard dvds. I have no problems playing cds or bd. Most of the time it will play the main menu of the dvd without any issues, but when I try to play it will either crash, restart the menu, or just do nothing. I can burn dvds no problem.
I'm using PowerDVD9 Ultra. As far as I know I have the most recent patches, etc.
Has anyone else had this issue, or would be kind enough to list the most recent software versions/drives for PD9 and the LG?
I'm running vista 32-bit, 4gb of RAM so it's not a problem with the setup.
I appreciate any responses.

Thats a strange one. I have a similar setup. Ie powerdvd 9 ultra, the same bluray drive, vista 64 and 4GB, but i tend to have problems with blurays. This normally is solved with an update of my graphics card or a later update of power dvd.

Have you got the latest firmware installed for your LG drive? I think its 1.3

Have you also tried running the dvd's in another application ie windows media player or some other third party application?

Also try and go back to the previous version of power dvd? the latest version is v9.0.1719.0 im currently on 9.0.1501

update to your latest graphics driver?

Updated powerdvd9, works great. I had tried it in windows media player and it also wouldn't work. I guess I'll try that again when I get home. Thanks for filling me in on the updated software! The way in which I acquired the program prevented me from being able to update it...
