I bought a PS3 today and am a huge movie collector. I own over 1000 dvds and want to start collecting some blu-ray discs.

Can everyone list there top 5 blu-ray's in terms of PQ and SQ:

I would recommend the following 5:

1. Apocalypto
2. The Departed
3. Pirates 1&2
4. Crank
5. Black Hawk Down

Sure that's 6 movies but this list will no doubt get the WOW factor going.

Casino Royale because you'll like the movie; if it's not the best PQ, it's still pretty damn good; and the sound - if you have a 5.1 Home Theatre set up - will no doubt exceed expectations.

I have a 7.1 system, and I do agree Casino Royale is a kickass movie. Has anyone sceen Planet Earth?

Oh yeah Kingdom of Heaven and Eight Below for sure! and Casino Royale is sweet. The flesh tones are a little orangey at times but the visuals are stunning. Also I'm hearing Seven Years in Tibet looks good.

Congrats on your PS3 and your decision to go Blu!!
I picked up my PS3 about 9 days ago, have about 600 DVDs and now have 10 BDs to my name.
I recommend:
Pirates and Pirates 2
Seven Years In Tibet (I read the AWESOME review in dvdfile.com)
Eight Below (I read you can make out the individual hairs on the dogs' fur! Another kick-ass BD)
Fantastic Four (Looks and sounds great, particularly it's DTS sound)
Kingdom of Heaven (who DOSEN'T like this BD???)
