Does anyone know if there are any plans for Blu-ray releases for the following movies:
My Fair Lady Enchanted April Month By The Lake Sense and Sensibility Emma (KB version, not the GP one) Roman Holiday Sabrina These are all great films. I can't understand how they are releasing so many trashy films on Blu-ray, yet these great movies are being left on the shelves. Last edited by highdeffer; 06-05-2009 at 10:59 PM. |

* Enchanted April - The recently released Miramax DVD (rel. May 2009 as part of their Miramax Films Award Winning Collection) was a long awaited DVD by fans. If this goes on Blu-ray, I hope they please digitally remaster and clean up the video. The DVD picture quality was not what I was expecting and was disappointed by it. Also, hopefully there is more to the special features for a film such as this instead of the single commentary by Director Mike Newell and Producer Ann Scott. * Roman Holiday, Sabrina (this includes Breakfast at Tiffany's and Funny Face) - With the release of these via Centennial Collection, digitally remastered in High Definition ala DVD release. I really do hope that they are released on Blu-ray. Not just these films but everything on the Centennial Collections. They've already done so much work on them that it makes me wonder when they will be released on BD. But hopefully in the near future! Last edited by kndy; 06-05-2009 at 04:02 PM. |

![]() As far as My Fair Lady -- there is a remake in the works with Keira Knightley for 2010, so maybe they will release the original when the remake hits theaters. I asked in the Insider Discussion threads about any Audrey Hepburn films, but none of the Digital Bits guys responded, so I guess there's no news or rumors. |

Let's hope they do a similar quality of work on Enchanted April to what was done on Pride & Prejudice (the Colin Firth/Jennifer Erle version). The transfer on that was extraordinary. I still cannot believe how good that is in Blu-ray - I would never have believed they could do that so well. It just goes to show they will put the effort in if they have a big enough commercial audience for something. |

I'm wondering if they are taking their time in doing the transfer. They did a lot of work and spent a lot of time and money when they did the restoration for DVD, so they know they have something special that commands a huge audience, so they may be making sure they get it right. God, it's worth going to Blu-ray for the costumes alone, if nothing else! (And of course for that wonderful day room of Rex Harrison's, with those marvellous ceiling-high bookcases!) Drool, drool. :-) You know, you think there would be a website exclusively for discussing transfers and their progress and detail, and that the production houses would provide input to the website. |

Another film I meant to mention is the Bertolucci film "Stealing Beauty". This would be a leading candidate for Blu-ray, given the glorious location shots and magnificence of the artists' villa. Unfortunately it's not on the Amazon alert list, which is disappointing.
At least Enchanted April and My Fair Lady are on the Amazon alert list, which means there are a lot of Blu-ray searches on those titles. I sometimes wonder if the key to getting some of these titles released on Blu-ray is to get as many people as possible doing Blu-ray searches on the title at Amazon. Surely there must be some interaction between Amzon and the production houses/movie studios in this regard. |
