Awesome series intro

I'm very happy about this news, as you can imagine. I am not a number - I am a free man!

In.

Wouldn't it be great if they did as good a job as that done with Star Trek season 1?

One of my all-time favourite series for sure...

There seems to be a lot of discussion/debate as to the proper order in which to view the episodes.

Netflix provides them in one order, they aired in a very different order, and there seems to be McGoohan approved order (for the first 7).

Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks.

Anyway here is the better one than the transmission order

1 Arrival
2 Free For All
3 Dance of the Dead
4 Checkmate
5 The Chimes of Big Ben

6 The Schizoid Man
7 The General
8 A, B, and C
9 Many Happy Returns
10 It's Your Funeral
11 A Change of Mind
12 Hammer Into Anvil

13 Do Not Forsake Me Oh My Darling
14 Living in Harmony
15 The Girl Who Was Death

16 Once Upon a Time
17 Fall Out

Original 7 are 1-5 followed by 16-17

Anyone with an eye for frame composition will probably see that 1-5 and 16-17 are all composed with common top (ie might be reframable in 1.66 for 60's theaters showings). The rest is shot like regular 60's TV for the most part.
Thank you. That makes another order to confuse me. Where did your list come from, or, can you describe/explain the importance of viewing it that way? I have not seen the show, but am VERY interested, and want to view it in the best possible sequence.

Thanks again

Chimes of Big Ben is OBVIOUSLY the second episode--
Wherein the series concept is helpfully re-re-restated for those who missed the pilot, and the central pilot-episode crisis re-enacted with a different new guest character as subplot variation, to further acclimate new viewers and get writers out of the pilot-episode pit and into writing new stories.

Dance of the Dead is somewhere in first five, since it firmly establishes that No. 6 can no longer expect help from back home, and still emphasizes the "message" early on of the Village Always Winning. That fell by the wayside in the later episodes, when No. 6 tried changin the system from the inside.
Checkmate could be either directly before or after, for the same reason (although likely before, with more focus on failed escape plots), but it's more polished than the "message-concept" self-indulgence of Free For All.

A, B, & C is clearly the last episode for the "old" No. 2 from Schizoid and General, as we can tell by his jumpy desperation about No.1, and that last flashing phone call...Bus-teddd!

It's Your Funeral gives us undisguised lookalikes of "Chimes"'s Leo McKern and "Dance"'s Mary Morris, and implying that they've already served their time in the past.

And then, the continuing debate--
Is the same actor we see at British HQ in Many Happy Returns supposed to be the same agent who ended up "promoted" to No. 2 in Hammer Into Anvil, or just a coincidence of reusing actors?
(Any theory to the effect defends A&E's decision to keep the episodes together.)

Default The Prisoner

Hello

Whether or not it is dated is entirely up to you.

Just keep in mind that it was a surrealist drama from the 1960's.

For some additional context; I feel it is less dated by a considerable degree than the original season of Star Trek that was recently released as well.

For myself, in any time, it is outstanding.

When it was originally broadcast, it was a continium of his previous television show Secret Agent Man, which also was outstanding.

Historically, it was the first television series to continue on from another; this might still be so, in the most direct sense.

That it endures, is a testament to the many that still appreciate it.

Thank You

Some episodes are dated and others are not. The clothing is somewhat.

I would say if you can handle Connery's Bond, you can handle this.

Great everyone lists the correct street date for the release except best Buy who lists the BD set for 11/10 and the reg DVD set 10/27 !

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....p=1&id=2001109

their titles are usually a bit pricy but I usually have great luck at price matching for other retail chains.

Just ordered this from Amazon. Too bad it doesn't have the Simpsons parody of The Prisoner episode "The Computer Wore Menace Shoes" as an extra feature.

Nope, US case is a blue keepcase, not a big ugly box set.
