Yamaha RXV565 Direct Mode Question

I have my receiver set to Direct mode when playing blu rays containing DTS HD Master Audio or Dolby TruHD. I absolutely love the sound quality of Direct mode but my question is, is the receiver still decoding DTS HD Master Audio or Dolby TruHD while in this mode? When I push the info button on the remote, the display just says 'Direct'. If I go back to Straight mode and push info it will tell me that its decoding DTS HD Master Audio or whatever sound type that particular blu ray has. Does Direct mode not decode at all? The manual says that Direct mode plays back the selected source with the least circuitry and pure high fidelity sound. It still doesn't answer my question of, does Direct mode decode sound from my blu ray disc or not? If it doesn't then what am I listening to? Dolby? I dont know but Direct mode sounds awesome and all the channels are still separated, in other words voices are on center channel only most of the time.
